Midweek Football Preview

Teaser to Sunday’s big finale!

Premier League

Swansea vs. Southampton

This fixture might as well be a cup final as its a relegation six pointer. 18th and 17th respectively both teams are on 33 points and separated by goal difference. Southampton look the team on the ascendency as they have managed to pick up a few points in the last few games. Swansea on the other hand lost at the weekend and have brought themselves back into the relegation battle with a poor run of results. Southampton’s final game comes at home against Man City while Swansea entertain Stoke, both teams will want to pick up three points to ease their nerves and based on recent form Southampton look more likely.

Leicester vs. Arsenal

A game of no real importance other than pride as Leicester will look to win their last home game of the season while Arsenal will look to finally pick up a point away from home. Arsenal thrashed Burnley 5-0 at the weekend while Leicester lost at home to West Ham. If there was a team Arsenal would want to face to end their run it would be this Leicester team in poor form while if Leicester wanted to face a team to finally pick some form it would be an Arsenal side that have not won or drawn away from home this year.

Man City vs. Brighton

Brighton did well to beat Man United at the weekend, the win basically secured their safety for the season. Man City were held to a goalless draw at home to Huddersfield. In what is Man City’s final home game of the season they will look to seal it with three points while a win for Brighton could take them up to 10th depending on results elsewhere.

Tottenham vs. Newcastle

During the weekend Tottenham lost to West Brom while Newcastle lost to Watford. Tottenham’s remaining games are at home aka Wembley while Newcastle need a win to ensure that they keep 10th place. Newcastle should take encouragement from West Brom and Benitez should have something up his sleeve.

West Ham vs. Man United

West Ham beat Leicester at the weekend are now only two points away from guaranteeing safety for this season while Man United lost to Brighton and will look to bounce back with a win. West Ham have more of a motive to win the game and will be encouraged by Brighton’s performance against United. Man United will hope to win the game to gather some momentum before the FA Cup Final.

Coupe De France Final

Les Herbiers vs. PSG

3rd Division Les Herbiers come up against PSG the Ligue 1 champions. On paper this should be a very one sided final which PSG should finish within the first half if not sooner. Les Herbiers have gone beyond anyones expectations to reach the final and will not be discouraged as in a final anything can happen. Emery has already confirmed that he is leaving at the end of the season but if PSG some how lose this final he might be gone at the end of 90 minutes.
