World Cup Day 6 Review

Boring wins for all the higher ranked teams.

Group A

Uruguay 1 vs.0 Saudi Arabia

In what was the first boring game of the day Luis Suarez scored in his 100th game to ensure that Uruguay qualified for the Round of 16. Saudi provided some fight but failed to convert any of their chances. Uruguay played for the points and held on to their one goal advantage.

Group B

Portugal 1 vs. 0 Morocco

Portugal added three points to their tally via a 4th minute header by Cristiano Ronaldo. Ronaldo remains the only scorer for Portugal in the competition and also became the highest ever European goal scorer by passing Ferenc Puskas. Morocco had several chances and one penalty denied and how they did not at least manage to gain a point will baffle me for many days.

Iran 0 vs. 1 Spain

Iran were unlucky to lose to Spain due to a 54th minute Costa goal. Spain dominated possession and chances but were fortunate in the goal that they scored. Spain are now tied with Portugal on four points and in all likelihood these two teams will qualify.
