Chelsea are back! After an amazing World Cup and a week of ridiculous transfer rumours football returns for Chelsea fans with a friendly in Perth. Chelsea have been training in Australia for around four days having had seven sessions in total. The game will be played in the evening after which the squad will fly back to London and prepare for their next friendly. Due to the World Cup several first team players have yet to join the squad and so several youth, and loan players will have had a chance to impress Sarri over the last few days. Videos from the opening training session on Saturday revealed that Sarri had gotten straight down to business by drilling his philosophy into the players at his disposal. With the likes of Kante, Hazard, Rudiger etc still to join the squad patience will have to be afforded to Sarri to create his team. Sarri himself has stated that he does not know what to expect from his squad and the pre-season will be about getting used to the tactics rather than winning each game.
Chelsea Team Preview
Chelsea are without several first team stars and so the squad will be a mixture of first team, youth and loan players. Expectations are that mostly all of the 23 players will get a chance to impress over 90 minutes.
Perth Glory Team Preview
Personally I know little to nothing about Perth Glory expect for the fact that they finished 8th in their league. The friendly itself had been set to take place years ago and so that is why the squad have travelled to Australia. More than anything it is a chance for the Australian Chelsea fans to see some of their players.
Starting XI Prediction
The excitement is to see glimpses of Sarriball in today’s game and while a win is not the most important thing I expect Chelsea to start their Pre-Season with one.
