Chelsea vs. Lyon Pre-Season Preview

Practice makes perfect.

Chelsea play their final pre-season friendly tonight against Olympique Lyonnais at Stamford Bridge. This will technically be Sarri’s first game at home and so hopefully its Chelsea win and we score more than a solitary goal. Sunday’s Community Shield was not great and revealed some glaring problems in the Chelsea lineup which can easily be resolved now that all the players bar one is back. Courtois refused to return to training and so we are still without a first choice goalkeeper. Lyon finished third in Ligue 1 last season and are one of France’s best teams. They are without star player Nabil Fekir who only just returned to training and so did not travel with the squad. Fekir has also been linked with Chelsea in the past day and so expect rumours to heat up as the day goes on. For Chelsea it is another chance to practice Sarriball and get ready for the season opener against Huddersfield.

Chelsea Team Preview

Chelsea should start with a similar lineup to the Community Shield game although we could see some changes in defence. Hazard, Kante, Michy, Giroud and Cahill all returned for their first training session on Monday and could feature although with only one training session its not guaranteed.

Olympique Lyonnais Team Preview

Without Nabil Fekir Lyon most likely travel with a full strength squad. Ligue 1 also starts this weekend and so we could see a strong starting XI from the french side.

A win for Chelsea and we score more than a couple of goals that is all I ask for. COME ON!!!
