Chelsea vs. Cardiff City Preview

Chelsea are back!!

Chelsea will be hoping to extend their winning start to five games as they entertain Cardiff City at the Bridge. We have enjoyed a brilliant start to the season and while we may not have faced any major tests till now the points are what matter and we have 12 out of 12. Sarri has been fast in trying to implement his ideas and the stats show it as Chelsea dominate possession and passing stats in the league and Europe. The International Break may have caused the learning process to slow down but hopefully the players return with renewed hunger.

Cardiff sit 16th having won 2 and drawn 2 but they have at times shown that they are ready to play football and they gave Arsenal a run for their money having lost 2-3 two weekends ago. Cardiff are a different team to the one that graced the Premier League a few seasons ago and Warnock has instilled a solidity  in them. Etheridge has been brilliant in goal while players like Hoilett, Camarasa, Arter, and Ward provide creativity and threat from midfield and attack. In all probability Cardiff will set up to play on the counter against Chelsea and it should be another difficult evening in front of goal for us. Warnock has stated that he will look to attack this weekend and if that is the case then Chelsea should put more than a couple of goals past Etheridge. The main problem for Chelsea has been the lack precision in front of goal and creating and scoring more goals should be the main target of our games during the next few weeks. The International break has been favourable and a certain Hazard scored two in two for Belgium, while mostly all of the players return without injuries.

Chelsea Team Preview

Fabregas has returned to the pitch but this game might come a bit too soon, Loftus-Cheek might have suffered an injury during the International Break but that has not been confirmed. Everyone else returns fit and I expect Barkley to start ahead of Kovacic this week.

A clean bill of health for Cardiff City as they according to Warnock hope to play attacking football this weekend against Chelsea

This game starts a hectic few weeks for Chelsea and Chelsea should win this game comfortably, although the amount of goals will depend on how Cardiff City set up. Let’s make it 5 out of 5. COME ON CHELSEA!!
