Atletico Madrid vs. Club Brugge
Atletico Madrid lead the table going into the game though they could only manage a goalless draw against Real Madrid at the weekend. Club Brugge lost their first game but go into this one having beaten Cercle Brugge 4-0 at home. Brugge gave Dortmund a tough time but playing at the Metropolitano is a different scenario and it should be a comfortable win for Atletico Madrid.
Borussia Dortmund vs. AS Monaco
Dortmund are second on goal difference in the table and beat Leverkusen 4-2 at the weekend to lead the Bundesliga. Monaco lost to St.Etienne and are struggling in Ligue 1 which makes this a very tough fixture for them to play in. On paper this should be an interesting fixture but on current form Dortmund will dominate Monaco and another win is on the cards.
Tottenham vs. Barcelona
Since their loss to Inter on matchday one Tottenham have been on an unbeaten streak of three games. Barcelona on the other hand have not won since they thrashed PSV having drawn two and lost one in the league. This should be one of the games of the matchday and based on current form Tottenham should pose more than a challenge to Barcelona. Saying that Barcelona have the players to turn around their form would be an understatement but let’s see how they will handle their trip to London.
PSV Eindhoven vs. Inter Milan
PSV have scored 9 goals and conceded none since their defeat to Barcelona. Inter Milan are on a winning streak and go into this game as the favourites to win. A top game between two teams in good form and since PSV are at home they should balance out any advantage that Inter had going into the game.
Napoli vs. Liverpool
Napoli drew against Red Star last match day but won their two games in the league although they lost to Juventus at the weekend. Since beating PSG Liverpool have won one lost to Chelsea and then drew with Chelsea at the weekend. Ancelotti plays a familiar foe in Liverpool and as they are at home Liverpool should expect to face a fiery atmosphere. Liverpool have been great at the back but Firmino, Salah, and Mane need to start clicking if they want to pose a challenge.
Paris Saint Germain vs. Red Star Belgrade
PSG have continued their dominant run in the league although they lost to Liverpool at Anfield on matchday 1. Red Star have won two and drawn one in the league as they travel to Paris for the game. Red Star are a decent side but PSG at home is a formidable task and Neymar and co should get their first win in the Champions League for this season.
FC Porto vs. Galatasaray
Porto are doing well in the league and won at the weekend while Galatasaray have won one and lost one in the league. It should be an entertaining fixture and Porto need a win if they are to gain any position in the table.
Lokomotiv Moscow vs. Schalke 04
Lokomotiv have won two and lost one in the league while Schalke have lost two and won one in the Bundesliga. Schalke have been suspect and since Lokomotiv are at home they could make it a first win in the Champions League, in a group that is very much the group of death.
Bayern Munich vs. Ajax
Bayern have been all over the place since Matchday one having won one, drawn one and losing to Hertha Berlin at the weekend. Ajax have lost one and won two since beating AEK Athens and go into this game as the team in better form. Bayern have been suspect of late but in all likelihood they should make it two out of two in the Champions League although Ajax could make it difficult.
AEK Athens vs. Benfica
AEK have lost one and won one in the Greek League going into this game while Benfica have won one and drawn one. Benfica are the better team on paper and if one were to make a bet they would be the team to add three points to their tally but Athens is a tough place to play at and with the home support on their side AEK could sneak a point or more.
Olympique Lyonnais vs. Shakhtar Donetsk
Olympique Lyonnais beat City away on Matchday one and have been in good form in Ligue 1 having won two and drawn one. Shakhtar are breezing by in the Ukranian league although Lyon would be their toughest test so far. Lyon have been great form and with Fekir’s confidence restored they should make it a second win in the Champions League this season.
Hoffenheim vs. Man City
Hoffenheim have drawn one, lost won and won one in the Bundesliga since Matchday one while Man City won three in a row having scored 10 goals and not conceded any. City were dominant going into Matchday one as well and they lost to Lyon and English teams tend to find it difficult playing in Germany. An interesting game which on paper should go to City although on the pitch itself the story could be different.
AS Roma vs. Viktoria Plzen
AS Roma have lost one and won two since losing to Real Madrid 3-0 on Matchday one while Viktoria Plzen have drawn one, lost one and won one. Viktoria are a decent side but playing Roma is anyways a tough task and when you add traveling to Rome to it then the task gets even larger. Roma should get an easy three points to start their Champions League campaign off.
CSKA Moskva vs. Real Madrid
CSKA have drawn one and won one in the league while Real have won one, lost one, and drew one. CSKA are a team in better form although Real have played Sevilla and Atletico in their last two fixtures. Real should win the game although they might find it difficult in Moscow.
Man United vs. Valencia
United are a suspect side at the moment having drawn won and lost two since beating Young Boys. Valencia have drawn two and won one in La Liga and they should pose more than a threat to United as they travel to Old Trafford. Mourinho tends to do better in the Champions League when he has been poor in the PL and they could sneak a win but Valencia have a high chance of getting a point or more.
Juventus vs. Young Boys
Juventus have been imperious and are unbeaten in Serie A while Young Boys have also been thrashing swiss sides in the league. Juventus though is a task too far in my opinion and while Young Boys could make it difficult for Juventus it should be three more points in the bag for the side from Turin.
