Borussia Dortmund vs. Atletico Madrid
The group leaders go head to head this week as high flying Dortmund take on Atletico. Dortmund lead the Bundesliga at the moment and won 4-0 at the weekend against Stuttgart while Atletico are 5th in La Liga and drew 1-1 against Villareal. These two teams should be the ones to qualify from the group although in current form Dortmund look like they could inflict Atletico’s first defeat in the Champions league this season.
Club Brugge vs. AS Monaco
The next two fixtures for these two teams should decide who makes it to the Europa League. Brugge are second in the Belgian league and drew during the weekend while Monaco are 19th and lost their first game under Thierry Henry 2-1 at the weekend. On paper Monaco should win this game but an away trip tends to be difficult and Brugge could cause an upset.
Barcelona vs. Inter Milan
Barcelona returned to leading La Liga as they beat Sevilla 4-2 at the weekend but Messi fractured his arm which means that he could miss minimum of three weeks. Inter are 3rd in Serie A and beat Milan in the local derby at the weekend to go into the game with some momentum. These teams lead the group and are level on points so this should be a fun game to see who ends up finishing top in the group and whether Tottenham can catch up to one of them.
PSV Eindhoven vs. Tottenham
PSV lead the Dutch league and thrashed FC Emmen 6-0 at the weekend. Tottenham sit fourth in the premier league and beat West Ham 1-0 at the weekend. At the moment both these teams need a win if they are to stand any chance to make it to the knockout stage or the Europa League and it should be two feisty games between the two teams.
Liverpool vs. Red Star Belgrade
Liverpool sit second in the EPL as they head into this game having won at the weekend. They sit second in the group as well and a game against Red Star should be a perfect opportunity to add points to their name especially at Anfield. Red Star lead in Serbia but the pressure of Anfield should be too much for the side.
Paris Saint Germain vs. Napoli
PSG remain the only 100% winning side in Europe as they head into a double header against Napoli which begins in Paris. Napoli are 2nd in Serie A and comfortably beat Udinese 3-0 at the weekend while PSG lead Ligue 1 and might as well take the trophy now. It should be very interesting game between two sides in top form.
Galatasaray vs. Schalke 04
Galatasaray play a poor Schalke side as they try to climb up the group. Schalke have been decent in the Champions League but a trip to Istanbul is always tough.
Lokomotiv Moscow vs. FC Porto
Lokomotiv need the points as they sit bottom of the group as FC Porto visit Moscow. Porto sit top of the group but with the teams so close in form they will need to bring their A game if they are too stand any chance of progressing to the knockout stages.
AEK Athens vs. Bayern Munich
Bayern finally managed to win a game as they beat Wolfsburg at the weekend. AEK are third in the greek league but should be easy pickings for Bayern. Bayern should add three points to their score although recent form should give AEK encouragement.
Ajax vs. Benfica
Two teams in good form domestically and in Europe as this fixture should give a clear idea of which team progresses to the knockout stage or heads into the Europa League. Bayern have been poor but they should still manage to make it into the knockout stages.
Shakhtar Donetsk vs. Man City
Shakhtar beat City last season although that game did not count for much, but these next games will give a clear idea which of these two teams will progress to the knockout stages along with Lyon. City should win this game but they at times have found away days difficult in Europe and so this might be a slightly more interesting affair.
Hoffenheim vs. Olympique Lyonnais
Two teams in decent form but two teams that are still very much fighting for a place in the knockout stages or the Europa League. Lyon should manage to make it to the next round but Hoffenheim were good against City in the last matchweek and so they could cause problems to the French side.
Real Madrid vs. Viktoria Plzen
Real Madrid have been disastrous in the last few weeks and are only second in their Champions league group as well. This fixture comes at a great time for the Spanish side as they look for some easy wins to build momentum. Anything less than a win would surely mean that Madrid sack Lopetgui. Viktoria should pose no real threat and it would be a great feat if they were to win any points in Madrid.
AS Roma vs. CSKA Moskva
Roma are struggling at the moment as they face a tricky visit from a decent CSKA side. CSKA managed to beat Madrid and while playing in Rome will be tricky a point would be more than enough for them. Roma need the win or a draw to keep their chances of progression alive.
Man United vs. Juventus
In perhaps the standout fixture of the next two matchweeks United will entertain Juventus and visa versa. United drew against Chelsea at the weekend and have Mourinho has managed to keep his job over the last fortnight or so. Juventus had a 100% start to the season but drew at the weekend to end that run. Based on current form Juventus should thrash United and Ronaldo, Dybala and co should feel very excited at the prospect of facing United’s back line. This fixture should be very interesting.
