Bate Borisov 0 vs. 1 Chelsea Europa League Group Stage Review

Our worst performance this season but we got the job done.

In what was perhaps one of the poorer performances of the season Chelsea managed to add another three points to their Europa League tally in Minsk. Chelsea might have dominated possession but we registered no shots on target in the first half and it took a headed goal by Giroud in the 52nd minute to break the deadlock and seal the points. Chelsea were caught reeling during the final ten minutes and Bate hit the post for the third time during the game and Kepa made several saves to keep the clean sheet.

Sarri stated that the best part of the game was the scoreline as the performance was far from perfect. The goalkeeper and defence consisted of the players that were expected to be selected but Sarri went with Barkley, Jorginho, and Loftus-Cheek in midfield. Barkley and Loftus-Cheek did not have great games but Loftus-Cheek in particular did not perform spectacularly while Jorginho calm in his passing of the ball and was better during the second half. Hazard and Pedro started up front with Giroud but Hazard had no real impact as he continued to return to fitness after his injury while Giroud did well to grab the goal. Pedro had great work rate which proved important during the latter stages of the game.

Chelsea now just need a point to finish top of the group while a visit from Everton is next in the Premier League followed by the final International break of the year. Continuing to work hard is the key. COME ON YOU BLUES!!!
