Chelsea 0 vs. 0 Everton Review

A frustrating game before the International break.

Chelsea were frustrated into a draw against Everton as the Merseyside team defended brilliantly to hold on for a point. Sarri went with his first choice starting XI although he chose Morata up front with Hazard, and Willian, and Kovacic to partner Kante, and Jorginho. The game started off slowly and the first half saw very little opportunities on goal for both sides. The second half seemed to awaken a beast in Chelsea as we found another gear, Alonso hit the post twice with brilliant volleys, and Willian, Morata, and Hazard all went close with their shots but narrowly missed. The game was also very physical as no less than 8 yellow cards were shown. Everton began to waste time in the final minutes and the points were shared between the two teams.

Player wise Kepa made saves when called for and was great, the defence also performed well with Rudiger standing out as the best defender on the day. Jorginho was good but he seemed tired and was even replaced by Fabregas. Kante continues to get to grips with his role further forward but still made tackles when called for. Kovacic was good but he needs to work on his goal scoring threat. Hazard was good not great, Morata fell back to his weak self again as he continues to struggle with consistency, and Willian was annoying as a right footed right winger continues to not make sense. On a day when City and Liverpool won Chelsea moved down to third, four points behind City, and two behind Liverpool. Sarri stated that the performance was decent and I agree as us fans should not crib about such a result. One thing that Sarri stated and Conte also used to state last season is that we are not clinical enough and that when we create chances we need to take them. Our form is great considering we have a new manager and we still remain the only unbeaten team in Europe’s top five leagues. An International break is next with 12 days without club football, our next game comes up against a certain North London side named Tottenham Hotspur. COME ON YOU BLUES!!!
