Chelsea vs. PAOK Europa League Group Stage Preview

Need a great performance.

Tottenham dealt Chelsea their first defeat of the season at the weekend as Chelsea looked second best for the entirety of the game. The game against PAOK could not come at a better time as it should give the starters and bench players a chance to bounce back at home and gain some momentum going into the festive period. Chelsea have already progressed to the Round of 32 for this season’s Europa League and a point would secure them a first place finish in the group as well. Hopefully the players will show more grit and determination than the weekend and score more than a few goals. The press conference was interesting as Sarri stated that he spoke to each player individually while also stating that in his system the CDM role would only be occupied by Jorginho or Fabregas. Sarri stated that when Chelsea lost possession Kante was found further forward and that he should play closer to Jorginho without the ball. Sarri also stated that Hudson-Odoi needed to improve defensively as well as improve his movement without the ball. In all honesty Hudson-Odoi has done enough to at least start against the likes of Bate, PAOK, and Videoton.

Chelsea Team Preview

Hazard misses out due to a minor problem but he should be fit to face Fulham at the weekend. Other than that Sarri has a full team to select from and as I say before every single Europa League game I hope the youth players start. Ampadu, and Huson-Odoi need to start and especially in Ampadu’s case he has already shown that he is more than up for it.
