Midweek Football Review

A couple of interesting results. 

Premier League MW 15

Bournemouth 2 vs. 1 Huddersfield

Callum Wilson and Ryan Fraser scored early in the first half to give Bournemouth a lead but Kongolo scored in the 38th minute to give Huddersfield some hope. Bournemouth stood firm to seal all three points in the second half. Bournemouth move into 7th while Huddersfield remain just above the relegation zone in 17th. 

Brighton 3 vs. 1 Crystal Palace

Murray, Balogun, and Andone three goals for Brighton in the first half to give them a comfortable lead in the game. Duffy was sent off in the 28th minute but Palace could not capitalise. Milivojevic did score a penalty in the 81st minute but it was mere consolation. Brighton move into 10th with the win while Palace drop into 15th. 

West Ham 3 vs. 1 Cardiff 

After a tight first half West Ham changed gear in the second half with two goals from Perez and a third from Antonio. Josh Murphy scored a consolation goal for Cardiff in the 94th minute. West Ham remain 13th with the win while Cardiff remain 16th as well.

Watford 1 vs. 2 Man City 

Sane scored in the 40th minute and Mahrez scored in the 51st minute to give Man City a lead which they managed to hold on to even though Doucoure notched one back for Watford in the 85th minute. Watford are 11th in the table while City remain top of the table. 

Burnley 1 vs. 3 Liverpool

After a quiet first half Burnley gained the lead in the 54th minute thanks to Jack Cork. Milner equalised for Liverpool in the 62nd minute and Firmino gave Liverpool the lead in the 69th minute. Shaqiri then added a third in extra time as Liverpool remain second and on the tails of Man City. Burnley are 19th in the table.

Everton 1 vs. 1 Newcastle

Rondon gave Newcastle the lead in the first half before Richarlison equalised for Everton in the 38th minute. Everton remain 6th in the table with Newcastle in 14th.

Fulham 1 vs. 1 Leicester

Kamara gave Fulham the lead right before half time but Maddison continued his good form by equalising and sealing a point for Leicester in the 74th minute. Fulham remain bottom of the table while Leicester are 9th. 

Man United 2 vs. 2 Arsenal

In another highly chaotic game at Old Trafford United came back twice from a goal down to earn a draw against Arsenal. Mustafi gave Arsenal the lead in the 26th minute before Martial equalised for United in the 30th minute. Rojo then scored an own goal in the 68th minute but Lingard equalised a minute later for United. United remain 8th in the table while Arsenal drop into 5th. 

Tottenham 3 vs. 1 Southampton

Tottenham returned to winning ways and the top four as they beat Southampton at Wembley. Goals from Kane, Moura, and Son were enough while Southampton managed a consolation goal in the 93rd minute thanks to Charlie Austin. Tottenham move back into 3rd with the win while Southampton are 18th. 

Ligue MW 16

Monaco beat Amiens 0-2, Lille beat Montpellier 0-1, Nantes beat Marseille 3-2, Lyon lost to Rennes 0-2, PSG drew with Strasbourg 1-1. It was a tough midweek for the top teams in France but PSG still remain top of the table with their 14 point gap. Lille, Montpellier and Lyon make up the top four.
