Brighton vs. Chelsea Preview
Time to build on the win against City.
The win against City seems to have brought a positive narrative to Chelsea Football Club as far as the pitch is concerned. Chelsea have had some proven and some unproven claims of racist chants against them and since there is a history of racism and Chelsea the media has blown the whole thing out of proportion. The majority of the fans are not going to be heard singing any manner of racist chants but as has been proven time and time again at various football games, there will always be a fan or two that forget that this is a sport and that is it. Racism is bad in any context and that should be the final word on that matter.
Back to the football as following the win against City last weekend and drab draw in Hungary Chelsea head to Brighton this weekend. The Seagulls sit 13th in the table with 21 points although they are only 5 points of 6th, so in that context they are not doing bad at all. Brighton are shaky away from home but this season as they did last season Brighton have been strong at home taking points from several top teams at the Amex. Chelsea though have faired well against Brighton as we beat them comfortably both home and away last season. This season both teams are in a decent patch of form and it will be tough game but one which Chelsea must win to keep their positive momentum going.
Chelsea Team Preview
Sarri rested several key players for the game against Vidi, and we can expect a similar lineup to the one against City. The two positions in question remain the third midfield role which in my opinion should go to Ruben or Barkley as we need a greater attacking threat against Brighton. The other role is the striker role which after Hazard’s venture against City has been thrown into question. Morata was injured against Vidi and the obvious traditional option would be Giroud although we could see another try at the false nine formation.
Brighton Team Preview
Brighton have no injuries and after a week’s rest they should be raring to go against Chelsea. Hughton is not known to go defensive however we might see a more counter attacking approach against Chelsea.
