Hazard got the job done.
Sarri made six changes to the side that started in the league at the weekend. Christensen, Emerson, Fabregas, Loftus-Cheek, Barkley, and Giroud all started the game against Bournemouth. Chelsea dominated the first half but failed to get the ball in the net thanks to several brilliant saves from Bournemouth goalkeeper Boruc. The second half was more even as Bournemouth gained courage with every passing minute and Kepa was drawn into making some decent saves of his own. The solitary goal came via a deflected effort from Hazard in the 84th minute as Chelsea progressed to the semis.
It was a good game and unlike most cases Chelsea had several shots on target but Bournemouth were more than up for the task on the day. Chelsea will now face Tottenham over two legs in January to see who reaches the final. Player wise Kepa kept a clean sheet and made some brilliant saves while Azpi, Rudiger, Christense, and Emerson were all good in defence. Emerson had another game in which he showed why he should be given a chance to start ahead of Alonso. Fabregas was decent, Kovacic and Loftus-Cheek had a brilliant game. Kovacic was great in his left midfield role while Loftus-Cheek started the game at right wing and then played left wing and then dropped into the midfield showing prowess in all three positions. Willian was good in the first half but dropped off in the second while Giroud was great in hold up play and had a couple of shots saved.
Onto Leicester in the league as the festive train of fixtures keeps rolling by. COME ON YOU BLUES!!
