Chelsea 0 vs. 1 Leicester Review

Hazard or bust for Chelsea.

Chelsea fell for their 3rd defeat of the season as they lost to Leicester at home in our last home game of 2018. Sarri had selected the same false 9 lineup that we played against City and while it worked brilliantly in the first half with chance after chance being created we could not seem to put the ball into the net. Hazard hit the post and Begovic made some brilliant saves. Leicester came out the better side in the second half and dominated play as a goal from Vardy in the 51st minute proved enough for the foxes. Leicester moved into 9th with the win while Chelsea remain 4th but now are 5 points behind Spurs who are 3rd and level on points with Arsenal who are 5th.

Playerwise Kepa was brilliant as he made several saves, Azpi, and Luiz were great defensively but Rudiger had an off day alongside Alonso who was abysmally poor. Jorginho had no real impact in the second half while Kante was good, Kovacic was our best player in the midfield but Chelsea lost it once he was subbed off. Hazard was great but he can’t do everything by himself while Pedro had an off game and Willian should just leave the club. The fact is that Chelsea only have one player that has an impact on the field and that is Hazard. If Hazard creates opportunities no one scores them and there is no one to create opportunities for Hazard. We are a one man club at the moment and we need to invest heavily in our strike force if we want to stand a chance of making the top four this season. Sarri needs to risk it and play Hudson-Odoi over Willian, and he needs to play Emerson over Alonso otherwise we could continue to lose games due to lack of impact and finishers.

Chelsea move onto the game on boxing day with a trip to Watford where we got thrashed 4-1 last season. Chelsea need to improve and Sarri needs to take risks otherwise we could find ourselves outside the top four. COME ON YOU BLUES!!!
