Premier League MW 18
Wolverhampton 0 vs. 2 Liverpool
In what was thought would be a tough game Salah and Van Dijk scored to extend Liverpool’s lead at the top of the table to four points and crown them Christmas champions. Wolves were 7th but dropped down to 10th in what is a tight clash in the mid table.
Arsenal 3 vs. 1 Burnley
Aubameyang scored to goals in either half to give Arsenal the lead before Burnley grew into the game in the second half and scored via Barnes in the 63rd minute. Iwobi then scored in the 91st minute to seal the deal for Arsenal. Arsenal remain 5th but return level on points with Chelsea who are 4th. Burnley were 18th and remain 18th.
Bournemouth 2 vs. 0 Brighton
David Brooks scored in either half to return Bournemouth to winning ways in a tight clash. Bournemouth climb up to 8th with the win while Brighton who were 13th remain 13th in the table.
Huddersfield 1 vs. 3 Southampton
Southampton continued their new manager bounce by winning 1-3 with goals from Redmond, Ings, and Obafemi. Billing scored a consolation goal in the second half. Huddersfield remain 19th while Southampton climb up into 16th.
Man City 2 vs. 3 Crystal Palace
In a shocking results City lost their second game of the season at home to Crystal Palace. Gundogan scored in the 27th minute as it looked like City would run riot in another game but Schlupp and Townsend scored two screamers in the 33rd and 35th minute to give Palace the lead. Townsend’s goal was especially amazing. Milivojevic then scored in the 51st minute via the penalty spot to give the Eagles a 1-3 lead. De bruyne came of the bench to score in the 85th minute but it wasn’t enough as City fell four points behind Liverpool. Palace move up one place into 14th.
Newcastle 0 vs. 0 Fulham
Newcastle and Fulham played out a boring nil nil draw. Newcastle fall into 15th while Fulham stay bottom of the table.
West Ham 0 vs. 2 Watford
Watford beat West Ham in a fiesty London derby thanks to goals from Deeney and Deulofeu. West Ham dropped to 12th with the defeat while Watford moved up into 7th.
Cardiff City 1 vs. 5 Man United
United scored five goals for the first time since Ferguson’s last game in 2013 as they thrashed Cardiff. Rashford, Herrera, Martial, and a Lingard double were enough as Pogba provided three assists. The United players must really might not have liked Mourinho as they seem to have magically become an inform side, only time will tell whether this is United’s return or just a fortunate result. United remain 6th while Cardiff are 17th.
Everton 2 vs. 6 Tottenham
Everton got thrashed at home by Tottenham as Spurs showed that they should not be counted out of the title race. Walcott opened the scoring for Everton in the 21st minute but that only managed to awaken the beast as Son, Alli, and Kane scored before half time. Eriksen, Son, and Kane then added three more in the second half while Sigurdsson scored a consolation second goal for Everton. Everton drop into 11th with the loss while Tottenham move 5 clear of 4th placed Chelsea, and only 2 behind 2nd placed City.
La Liga MW 17
Atletico beat Espanyol 1-0, Barcelona beat Celta Vigo 2-0, Sevilla drew away at Leganes 1-1, while Real are still to play Villareal. Barcelona, Atletico, Sevilla, and Real make up the top four at the end of 2018.
Serie A MW 17
Napoli beat SPAL 1-0, Milan lost to Fiorentina 0-1, Inter drew with Chievo 1-1, and Juventus narrowly beat Roma 1-0. Juventus, Napoli, Inter and Lazio make up the top four with Juventus and Napoli a cut above the rest.
Bundesliga MW 17
Dortmund beat Monchengladbach 2-1, Leipzig beat Werder Bremen 3-2, Bayern beat Frankfurt 0-3, and Mainz drew with Hoffenhiem 1-1. Dortmund, Bayern, Monchengladbach, and Leipzig make up the top four with Bayern moving three clear of Monchengladbach into 2nd. The Bundesliga returns on the 19th of January as Dortmund are crowned Christmas champions.
Ligue 1 MW 19
Marseille drew with Angers, Monaco lost Guingamp 0-2, Montpellier drew with Lyon 1-1, PSG beat Nantes 1-0, Lille lost to Toulouse 1-2. PSG move 13 points clear with two games in hand while Lille, Lyon and Montpellier make up the top four. PSG could be 19 points clear at the top of the table if they win their games in hand.
