Weekend Football Preview

The top 6 race heats up!

Premier League MW 26

Fulham vs. Man United

19th placed Fulham entertain 5th placed United in which a win for United would mean that they move into 4th. Fulham are 7 points off of safety and they need to start winning games if they stand any chance of surviving the drop. United are in great form having not lost under Ole till now and Fulham should not pose any real threat to them. Could Ranieri pull of a shocking result? Maybe but United should win this. United won the reverse fixture 4-1.

Crystal Palace vs. West Ham

14th placed Palace take on 12th placed West Ham in a London Derby. The teams are going in opposite directions at the moment with Palace moving up while West Ham are moving down. Michy should start his first game and this should be an interesting game between two teams that need to win games. Palace should edge it though. West Ham won the reverse fixture 3-2.

Huddersfield vs. Arsenal

Huddersfield are bottom of the table 13 points off of safety and got thrashed 5-0 last weekend at Chelsea. Arsenal have not been great either as they dropped down to 6th with their loss against City. If there was a team that Arsenal would want to play to start a run it would be Huddersfield although if there was a top 6 team that Huddersfield wanted to play it would be Arsenal. Arsenal should win this but you never know. Arsenal won the reverse fixture 1-0.

Liverpool vs. Bournemouth

Liverpool dropped to 2nd on goal difference after City beat Everton midweek. Liverpool have a game in hand but have not won in two having drawn both of their last games. Bournemouth are 10th and have been inconsistent this season. Bournemouth could make life difficult for Liverpool but Liverpool should manage a win because dropping more points would raise some serious doubts. Liverpool won the reverse fixture 0-4.

Southampton vs. Cardiff City

Southampton are 16th while Cardiff are 18th and Southampton have been in great form since Hassenhutl took over. Cardiff are 2 points off of safety and a win would take them out of the relegation zone although their away form is dodgy. A tough game to call with both teams at similar levels although Southampton have more talent. Cardiff won the reverse fixture 1-0.

Watford vs. Everton

8th vs. 9th in a highly interesting game as Marcos Silva visits his former club in Watford. Silva started off decently but has really come under pressure in recent weeks although Everton have not been too poor. Watford have been doing great and Deeney and co will really want to get one over Silva. Everton have the squad to fight but which Everton shows up will decide the result. It was a 2-2 draw in the reverse fixture.

Brighton vs. Burnley

13th vs. 17th with Burnley visiting Brighton. Burnley have been a decent patch of form recently as they have climbed out of the relegation zone but Brighton is a tough place to go to and the Seagulls always do well at home. A tough game but one that should go Brighton’s way. Burnley won the reverse fixture 1-0.

Tottenham vs. Leicester

3rd placed Spurs are still without Kane and Alli but Son has been back and nicking them points unconvincingly their last few games. Leicester are 11th and part of the patch of teams that are fighting for 7th spot. Leicester are a good team and were perhaps unlucky to not pick up more points in recent weeks and Spurs have been reliant on Son. The game could go either way. Tottenham won the reverse fixture 0-2.

Wolverhampton vs. Newcastle

Wolves are 7th and heading for the Europa League at the moment while Newcastle are 15th and running away from the relegation zone. Newcastle have been decent in recent weeks but Wolves have out scored teams even though they have leaked in goals and so Wolves should win this game. Wolves won the reverse fixture 1-2.

La Liga MW 23

The week starts of with a Madrid Derby as Real visit Atletico in a battle for 2nd spot at the moment. Sevilla welcome Eibar, and Barcelona travel to Athletic Bilbao. Barcelona are 6 clear at the moment while if Atletico win they could make 2nd place their own but if Real win then Barca would gain the advantage.

Serie MW 23

Roma travel to Chievo, Napoli travel to Fiorentina, Inter are away at Parma, Juventus travel to Sassuolo, and Milan welcome Cagliari. Juventus are 9 clear the moment but the race for a top four place is still heated up.

Bundesliga MW 21

Monchengladbach play Hertha Berlin, Leipzig play Frankfurt, Dortmund play Hoffenheim, and Bayern play Schalke. Tough games all around for the top four sides as Dortmund lead the pack by 7 points.

Ligue MW 24

Marseille travel to Dijon, PSG play Bordeaux, Monaco travel to Montpellier, Lille travel to Guingamp, and Lyon travel to Nice. PSG are 10 clear with two games in hand while Monaco are 18th and trying to climb out of the relegation zone.
