Weekend Football Preview

Derby weekend!

Premier League MW 29

Tottenham vs. Arsenal

The weekend starts off with the North London Derby as Arsenal travel to Wembley to play Spurs. Spurs are looking to win their first game after two successive defeats to Burnley and Chelsea while Arsenal are looking to cut the gap to 1 point between them and Spurs. Spurs lost 2-0 to Chelsea mid week in a very poor performance while Arsenal thrashed Bournemouth 5-1. The momentum is on Arsenal’s side and as usual this should be one fiery game both teams need to win. Arsenal won the reverse fixture 4-2 in what was an amazing game.

Bournemouth vs. Man City

12th placed Bournemouth having been thrashed by Arsenal now entertain City at home this weekend. City remain a point behind Liverpool as they look to continue the pressure and after Bournemouths week performance against Arsenal City should win this. Man City won the reverse fixture 3-1.

Brighton vs. Huddersfield

16th vs. 20th as Brighton entertain Huddersfield. Huddersfield shockingly beat Wolves mid week but they stand no chance of surviving relegation this season. Brighton have slumped off in recent weeks but their home form is always good and so they should win this although it might be a cagey affair. Brighton won the reverse fixture 1-2.

Burnley vs. Crystal Palace

15th vs. 14th as Burnley entertain Palace. Burnley have done really well in the second half of the season and Dyche and his men capped off their good form by beating Spurs at the weekend. You never know what to expect from Palace but on the basis of current form Burnley should win this game. Palace won the reverse fixture 2-0.

Man United vs. Southampton

United look to continue their unbeaten run as they entertain Southampton at Old Trafford. With Arsenal playing Tottenham this is a great opportunity to head back into the top four right before they play Arsenal themselves next weekend. Southampton won comfortably at the weekend as they got out of the relegation zone and they might stand a chance of getting a point at Old Trafford. The reverse fixture was a 2-2 draw.

Wolverhampton vs. Cardiff City

7th placed Wolves take on 18th placed Cardiff with both teams needing a win. Wolves have dropped off in recent weeks and shockingly lost to Huddersfield as they fight for that 7th placed finish. Cardiff took a blow in their bid for survival but with Southampton playing United they have a chance to get out again. It’s a tough game that a few weeks back Wolves would have won but now Cardiff have a chance. Wolves won the reverse fixture 0-1.

West Ham vs. Newcastle

10th vs. 13th as West Ham entertain Newcastle. Newcastle are hitting a good patch of form and West Ham have been far from great recently. Benitez has a chance to make it three successive wins although this will be a tough test. An interesting game that could go either way. West Ham won the reverse fixture 0-3.

Watford vs. Leicester

8th placed Watford take on 11th placed Leicester in a crucial game for a top 10 finish. Leicester sacked Puel before mid weeks game and appointed Brendan Rodgers as he takes on his first game in charge of the club. Watford were really poor against Liverpool and with Leicester having a new manager they will also look to get the bounce as well. A very good game and one to keep an eye on, Rodgers has everything at Leicester to get a top 10 possibly 7th placed finish. Leicester won the reverse fixture 2-0.

Everton vs. Liverpool

The weekend ends with 9th placed Everton taking on 1st placed Liverpool in the fiery Merseyside Derby. Liverpool looked to have returned to last seasons form as they thrashed Watford 5-0 while Everton also beat Cardiff 0-3 away from home. Liverpool should be confident as Everton and Silva have not been in the best of form but in a Derby anything can happen. Liverpool should win on paper but neutrals will want Everton to at least manage a point. Liverpool won the reverse fixture 1-0.

La Liga MW 26

Sevilla travel to Huesca, Real Madrid take on Barcelona in another El Clasico, and Atletico travel to Real Sociedad. The Clasico is the highlight as Real Madrid look to bounce back form their 0-3 loss in the Copa Del Rey to Barcelona mid week. Barcelona lead by 7 points.

Serie MW 26

Inter travel to Cagliari, Milan entertain Sassuolo, Roma travel to Lazio, Atalanta take on Fiorentina, and Napoli entertain Juventus in the top clash of the weekend. Juventus have a chance to go 16 points clear while Napoli look to cut down the deficit to 10. Milan look to go 3rd this weekend.

Dortmund travel to Augsburg, Schalke entertain Dusseldorf, Leipzig travel to Nurnberg, Hoffenheim travel to Frankfurt, and Monchengladbach take on Bayern in the clash of the weekend.
