Fulham 1 vs. 2 Chelsea Review

Consistency is key!

Chelsea continued their winning run by beating Fulham 2-1 in a hard fought game. Sarri rang a couple of changes as Kepa started in goal with Azpi, Rudiger, Christensen, and Emerson starting in defence. Jorginho started with Kante and Barkley ahead of him while Hazard, Higuain, and Willian started in attack. Chelsea got off to a good start as we dominated possession and got plenty of space in behind Fulham’s defence with several of the chances coming to Higuain who’s movement was amazing although his finishing was not up to par. Still Chelsea persisted and Azpi’s low cross found Higuain in the box who smashed in to give Chelsea the lead in the 20th minute. Rico made a couple more saves but Chambers equalised soon after for Fulham with some poor errors by the defenders. Jorginho then scored his second goal for Chelsea with a right footed shot in the 31st minute. As the game reached its end Fulham put the pressure on Chelsea but Kepa continued to make saves and Chelsea held on for the three points. Fulham remain 19th in the table 10 points off of 17th.

The key was to get the win and nothing more as our one win one loss policy was getting annoying. Chelsea remain 6th with a game in hand although only a point behind Arsenal and two points behind United who are 4th. Kepa and Jorginho were standout and both players put in brilliant performances as they have probably received the most criticism in recent weeks. Chelsea now play Dynamo Kyiv in the 1st leg of the Europa League’s Round of 16 tie and will hope to continue their chance at achieving a Champions League place through that.
