FA Cup weekend!
Premier League MW 31
Bournemouth vs. Newcastle
12th placed Bournemouth welcome 13th placed Newcastle which could either see Bournemouth go 6 points clear of Newcastle or see Newcastle go level with Bournemouth. The teams won last weekend but Newcastle are the team in better form at the moment. An interesting game between two teams that have similar quality on the pitch. Newcastle beat Bournemouth 2-1 in the reverse fixture.
Burnley vs. Leicester
17th placed Burnley take on 10th placed Leicester. Burnley are on a run of 3 straight defeats while Leicester managed to win their first game under Brendan Rodgers last weekend. Burnley are a decent defensive team but and with Cardiff not playing this weekend they could take advantage and go clear of the relegation zone. Leicester should win this game though as they have more quality and a loss for Burnley could see them fall into the relegation zone in time. The reverse fixture was a 0-0 draw.
West Ham vs. Huddersfield
9th placed West Ham entertain bottom of the table Huddersfield in what should be a game that sees West Ham return to winning ways after last weekends defeat. Huddersfield are just fighting for pride at the moment and while there is always a chance for an upset West Ham should easily get three points. The reverse fixture was a 1-1 draw.
Fulham vs. Liverpool
Liverpool head to 19th placed Fulham as they look to head back to the top with City playing in the FA Cup this weekend. Fulham should pose no real threat to Liverpool and as Liverpool are riding on a high from their weekend win against Bayern Munich this should be 3 points in the bag.
FA Cup Quarter – Finals
Watford vs. Crystal Palace
London derby in the FA Cup as Palace travel to Watford to see who can reach the semi-finals. The teams are in great form with Watford doing better overall than Palace, although both teams lost last weekend in the Premier League. It should be an interesting game and as both teams have nothing to lose and have quality players on the pitch.
Swansea City vs. Man City
Swansea are 15th in the Championship and have won only 1 of their last 4 games losing the other 3. City just thrashed Schalke 7-0 in the Champions League and while the FA Cup does tend to cause upsets I really can’t see City losing to Swansea. City should reach the semi-finals without much difficulty.
Wolverhampton vs. Man United
United lost their first game in the Premier League under Ole at the Emirates last weekend while Wolves got a very good point away at Chelsea. Wolves are 7th in the Premier League and best of the rest this season as well as carrying the title of top 6 killers. Wolves have already knocked out Liverpool from a cup competition and as they are at home they should be confident of causing another upset against United. United are doing well but can they recover from a first defeat. The fixture of the round.
Millwall vs. Brighton
Millwall are 19th in the Championship having played 6 games since the last round winning two of them and losing four. Brighton are 15th in the Premier League and have had an inconsistent season. Brighton do well at home but away from home is where they tend to be shaky. Millwall is a tough place to go to with the crowd being so boisterous and so this should be a tough game to call. Brighton should win this on paper but this could go either way.
La Liga MW 28
Zidane is back at Real Madrid and he faces Celta Vigo in his first game, Atletico travel to Bilbao, Sevilla travel to Espanyol, and Barcelona travel to Real Betis. All eyes are on Zidane as Real Madrid start thinking about next season as their is nothing to play for now.
Serie A MW 28
Roma travel to SPAL, Juventus travel to Genoa, Atalanta welcome Chievo, Napoli welcome Udinese, and the clash of the weekend comes from Milan as Milan play Inter. A win for Milan could see them go 4 points clear of their city rivals while a win for Inter could see them go back to 3rd.
Bundesliga MW 26
Monchengladbach entertain Freiburg, Schalke play Leipzig, Hoffenheim travel to Stuttgart, Dortmund travel to Berlin, Frankfurt play Nurnberg, and Bayern welcome Mainz. Things are too tight at the top of the table as the Bundesliga season heats up.
Ligue 1 MW 29
Lille play Monaco, Lyon play Montpellier, and PSG play Marseille in three top clashes in France although it really counts for nothing.
