Everton 2 vs. 0 Chelsea Review

Chelsea help out the rest again!

Chelsea had a brilliant chance of going into 5th and point behind Spurs who are 3rd but we blew it once again as a dominant 1st half yielded no goals and a poor 2nd half caused us to lose. If Chelsea had taken their chances we could have been 3rd by now but silly defeats have cost us and we remain 6th with 57 points. Sarri selected a strong lineup as Kepa started in goal with, Azpi, Rudiger, Luiz, and Alonso starting at the back. Emerson was no where to be seen. Jorginho, Kante, and Barkley started in the middle and Hazard, Higuain, and Pedro started up front. Chelsea dominated the 1st half as we hit the post via Hazard and forced Pickford to make a couple of saves. The most annoying part was that time and time again we lose games because we have no finishers up front. People fault Jorginho for not having assists but you only get assists if people finish them off and convert them into goals. The second half was abysmal and a poor mistake led to Richarlison giving Everton the lead while a penalty was awarded due to a foul by Alonso and Sigurdsson converted the save from Kepa into a goal. Sarri brought on Giroud, RLC, and CHO for Higuain, Pedro, and Jorginho but we could not take advantage.

After what has been a good couple of weeks we head into the international break with questions once again. Sarri brings on RLC and CHO time and time again to change the game but why not start them and win the game from the get go. With them on the pitch we did beat Kyiv 5-0. This game was not Sarri’s fault as he cannot finish the chances given to his players and the fact that we have it the post 19 times this season. The system is working but individual mistakes and lack of class upfront is costing us. Several of these players are not good enough and no matter how the season ends players like Alonso need to be moved on. We need a proper striker and we need Sarri to play the youth.

Chelsea now head into the International break with 13 days to contemplate on how we can make a final push for a top four finish. A top four place is still possible but when others drop points around us we have to make sure that we win our game that weekend. Chelsea’s best chance is to progress through the Europa League but a top four finish is possible but the players need to step up. COME ON YOU BLUES!!!
