Weekend Football Preview

FA Cup Semis, and Premier League action!

Premier League MW 33

Southampton vs. Liverpool

16th placed Southampton entertain 2nd placed Liverpool as both teams look to move further up the table. Southampton are trying to create a gap between themselves and the relegation zone as it is currently 5 points. Liverpool are a point behind City and with City busy in the FA Cup Liverpool have another chance to go into 1st for the weekend at least. Liverpool are currently struggling and fighting to get through games and Southampton could make it interesting. Liverpool can not risk to drop any points.

Bournemouth vs. Burnley

12th vs. 17th as Bournemouth entertain Burnley. Bournemouth really have nothing to fight for at this stage of the season unless they look to finish in the top ten. Burnley are 5 points clear of Cardiff who are 18th and will look to make it 8 points as they aim to play in the Premier League next season. The stakes are higher for Burnley.

Huddersfield vs. Leicester

9th placed Leicester look to finish as high as possible as they head to Huddersfield who are already relegated and will be playing Championship football next season. The aim for Huddersfield will be to leave the Premier League with dignity but Leicester should have more than enough and it should be 4 straight wins for Rodgers.

Newcastle vs. Crystal Palace

14th vs. 13th as two teams in similar form and with not much to play for go head to head. A mid table finish looks likely for both these teams but ending the season on a high should be the priority and Newcastle should narrowly win against Palace. Palace will be looking to make up for their loss against Spurs.

Everton vs. Arsenal

The race for the top four continues as 4th placed Arsenal travel to 10th placed Everton. Arsenal are looking to move ahead of Spurs into 3rd as Spurs do not play this weekend while Everton will look to finish as high as possible. Everton are in good form having won their last two games but Arsenal have won 4 and drawn 1 of their last five games and are looking unstoppable. The game to watch this weekend.

FA Cup Semi-Finals

Man City vs. Brighton

Man City are still in all four competitions and could get a quadruple as Brighton stand in their way in the FA Cup. City were not able to sell all their allocated tickets for the Semi and so Brighton will have more fans at Wembley on Saturday. Brighton are 15th in the Premier League having lost their last two games but they are always capable of causing an upset. City should win this game though and while it could be interesting they will most likely reach the final.

Watford vs. Wolverhampton

The tougher of the two Semi’s as 8th and 7th in the Premier League go head to head. Watford and Wolves have been the best of the rest this season with Wolves especially making a name for themselves as the top 6 killers. Watford though have been more consistent at winning games against teams in the bottom 14 and Wolves have struggled in that area. This should be a brilliant game to watch and it could really go either way.

La Liga MW 31

Real Madrid entertain Eibar, and Barcelona play Atletico in the game of the weekend. Atletico will be hoping to beat Barcelona and make La Liga interesting again, while Barcelona will have one eye on their game against United in the Champions League.

Serie MW 31

Juventus entertain Milan in the game of the weekend, Roma travel to Sampdoria, Inter play Atalanta, and Napoli welcome Genoa. Serie A is pretty much done and dusted and Napoli should finish 2nd but the race for the top four is still on.

Bundesliga MW 28

Leipzig travel to Leverkusen, Frankfurt travel to Schalke, Hoffenheim travel to Augsburg, and Monchengladbach play Werder Bremen. Tough games in the Bundesliga but the toughest comes from Munich as as Bayern entertain Dortmund in what is a crucial game for the title race.

Ligue MW 31

Marseille travel to Bordeaux, Lyon play Dijon, Monaco travel to Guingamp, Lille travel to Stade Reims, and PSG entertain Strasbourg. The race for top four is still on in Ligue 1.
