Massive game for both sides!
Chelsea travel to Anfield this Sunday as they come up against title chasers Liverpool while trying to finish in the top four. Liverpool lead the table as they are 2 points ahead of City who are 2nd but City have a game in hand. City’s game in hand does come against United so it’s not like if it’s a easy fixture but a Liverpool loss would mean that City would gain the momentum. Liverpool have been grinding out results in the league in recent weeks as they have won their last four games in a row in the league. Overall Liverpool have won 25 games drawn 6 and lost 1 game to City this season. Anfield has been a fortress for them having not lost at home for around 80 games or more and so Chelsea do have a massive task ahead of them. The reverse fixture was a 1-1 draw in which Hazard scored in the 25th minute but Sturridge scored in the 89th to manage a point for Liverpool.
Chelsea are 4th, a win against Liverpool would see us move into 3rd and be a massive statement for Sarri and co while a draw would not be a bad result either. A loss would make things interesting but fans and the players would want to win the game. Chelsea played well in the reverse fixture and Sturridge just showed up with a worldie goal to secure a point. With Sarri resting several players against Slavia Chelsea have a fit squad to take to Liverpool. Chelsea have played well in recent weeks having won our last three games at in the league and keeping clean sheets in those games. Liverpool and Anfield is going to be an uphill task but Chelsea are the underdogs in this game and that is the way we like it.
Chelsea Team Preview
Kepa will start in goal, Azpi, Christensen, Luiz and Emerson should start in defence. Jorginho, Kante, and RLC should start in midfield along with Hazard, and CHO upfront. The final spot might go to either Higuain, Pedro or Willian as Sarri might look to play a false 9 formation. Klopp has stated that Hazard is the main threat and Liverpool will focus on giving him no space which might work in our favour with players like RLC and CHO being left to dribble and create chances.
Liverpool Team Preview
Klopp has a full squad to select from with Joe Gomez also returning to fitness although he should start from the bench. With Liverpool managing their win against Porto in the 1st leg Klopp and co can focus on this game.
Starting XI Prediction
April 2014 Gerrard slipped and Ba scored in what would be a Chelsea win and a massive blow to Liverpool. April 2019 Chelsea are more than capable of deja vu and Chelsea and rival fans in general would love it! COME ON YOU BLUES!!!
