Weekend Football Preview

The title race continues!

Premier League MW 35

Man City vs. Tottenham

MW 35 starts off with a banger as City take on Tottenham once again after Spurs dramatically knocked City out of the Champions League on Wednesday. City are 2 points behind Liverpool in 2nd but with a game in hand while Spurs are 3rd just a point above Arsenal and Chelsea. City are chasing the title and Tottenham are chasing the top four and this should be another fiery encounter especially with City seeking revenge. A draw would be great for the teams around them but I think City will have enough in their stomach to manage a win against Spurs. City won the reverse fixture 0-1.

Bournemouth vs. Fulham

12th placed Bournemouth take on 19th placed Fulham in a nothing fixture. The teams should finish where they are and both will be hoping to end the season in the best possible way. Bournemouth and Fulham won their last fixtures but Bournemouth should win this game based on overall quality. Bournemouth won the reverse fixture 0-3.

Huddersfield vs. Watford

20th placed Huddersfield welcome 10th placed Watford as Watford seek to recover from their loss to Arsenal and return to 7th place. Huddersfield really have nothing to play for as they seek to give their fans a Premier League win in their final few fixtures. Watford should win this. Watford won the reverse fixture 3-0.

West Ham vs. Leicester

11th vs. 7th, West Ham take on Leicester as the Hammers seek to break into the top 10 while Leicester look to remain 7th. Overall Leicester have been in better form since Rodgers took over while West Ham have lost their last three. It should be an interesting game which could go either way. The reverse fixture was a 1-1 draw.

Wolverhampton vs. Brighton

8th placed Wolves have taken their foot of the gas lately as they have lost some momentum since they got knocked out of the FA Cup. Brighton are 17th, 2 points above the relegation zone and so this is a must win game for the Seagulls. Wolves have been dodgy against the bottom table sides and Brighton could manage a result. Brighton won the reverse fixture 1-0.

Newcastle vs. Southampton

15th vs. 16th as Southampton visit Newcastle. The teams should be safe from the relegation zone but both will be seeking wins to further the gap, and avoid a nervous end. Newcastle and Southampton won their last games and are evenly match which makes this an interesting game. The reverse fixture was 0-0 draw.

Everton vs. Man United

Ole takes his 6th placed United team to Liverpool this weekend as they face off against 9th placed Everton. United are fresh off a thrashing in Barcelona while Everton lost their last game in the league. In current form Everton have more than a chance to damage United’s top four hopes and climb up to 7th in the table. If United lose question marks will be raised on whether Ole passed his test before taking the wheel. United won the reverse fixture 2-1.

Arsenal vs. Crystal Palace

4th placed Arsenal welcome 13th placed Palace for a London derby on Sunday. Arsenal come into this game having beaten Napoli 3-0 on aggregate in the Europa League and are in a positive mood as they look to finish in the top four. Palace have nothing to play for but might find it fun to disrupt Arsenal’s chances. Arsenal though should win this game. The reverse fixture was a 2-2 draw.

Cardiff City vs. Liverpool

1st placed Liverpool visit 18th placed Cardiff in a tense fixture. Cardiff look to climb out of the relegation zone while Liverpool know that if they win and City falter against Spurs then they would be back in the driving seat. Liverpool rested players in Porto and so should be raring to go but relegation sides are a struggle. An interesting fixture. Liverpool won the reverse fixture 4-1.

La Liga MW 33

Atletico travel to Eibar, Barcelona entertain Real Sociedad, and Real welcome Bilbao. Barcelona are 9 points clear at the top as as the only real race is the one between Atletico and Real and who will finish 2nd and 3rd.

Serie MW 33

Milan travel to Parma, Juventus take on Fiorentina, Inter play Roma, and Napoli play Atalanta. No easy fixtures in Italy this weekend, Juventus are still 17 points clear and could clinch the title if they beat Fiorentina. The race for the top four continues as well.

Bundesliga MW 30

Bayern take on Werder Bremen, Monchengladbach take on Leipzig, Hoffenheim travel to Schalke, Dortmund take on Freiburg, and Frankfurt travel to Wolfsburg. Bayern are a point above Dortmund as the race continues while Leipzig are easy in 3rd. The race for top four is still on between Frankfurt and Monchengladbach.

Ligue MW 33

Lyon take on Angers, Marseille travel to Guingamp, Lille travel to Toulouse, and PSG take on Monaco. PSG have now gone 3 games without a win and could have won the title if they had won any of those 3 games. Monaco will not want to be the team that gifts PSG the title.
