Manchester United 1 vs. 1 Chelsea Review

Does anyone want the top four?!

Chelsea went into this game knowing that a win would mean that they only needed one more win from their remaining two games. United had to win this game at all costs to stand any proper chance at getting into the top four. Sarri selected a slightly rotated lineup keeping Frankfurt in mind as Kepa started in goal, Azpi, Luiz, Rudiger, Alonso started in defence, Jorginho, Kante, and Kovacic started in midfield while Hazard, Higuain, and Willian started upfront. United started the game well and cause the Chelsea defence all sorts of problems as Mata gave United the lead in the 11th minute. Chelsea barely made any chances but a Rudiger shot was mishandled by De Gea who allowed Alonso to score and bring Chelsea back into the game right before half time.

Chelsea and United both came out for the 2nd half as if they did not want to win the game and the half stood out only because of the injuries caused to our players. Rudiger suffered another knee injury which saw Christensen come on and bring his future involvement into doubt. RLC was brought on for Kova, Luiz looked like he had a small niggle but he continued on and then Willian suffered a red card offence from Rojo but the Argentine only got a yellow while Willian suffered an injury and was replaced by Pedro. For Chelsea in general Higuain had a poor game and was caught offside many times while the blues really showed no speed in attack.

On the bright side for Chelsea it is a point gained in the race for the top four although by now we should have already guaranteed our place by now. Chelsea are now two points behind Spurs, and 2 ahead of Arsenal with two games left to play. United basically need to win all their games and hope several games go their way so that they can stand a chance of finishing in the top four. For Chelsea, Frankfurt is up next as we look to continue are journey to the Europa League final. COME ON YOU BLUES!!!
