Weekend Football Preview

The penultimate weekend!

Premier League MW 37

Everton vs. Burnley

9th placed Everton entertain 15th placed Burnley with either team not having much to fight for. Everton can go into 7th with a win as they look to finish as high as possible while Burnley are already thinking about next season. A tough game with both teams in good form but Everton will want to end their home season on a high. Everton won the reverse fixture 1-5.

Bournemouth vs. Tottenham

14th placed Bournemouth entertain 3rd placed Tottenham in their final home game of the season. Tottenham have a trip to Amsterdam to think about and so Pochettino will likely rotate his squad but Tottenham cannot drop points as that could see them drop out of the top four if the rest of the teams finally take advantage. Bournemouth will look to give their fans a good send off for the season and maybe pile pressure on Tottenham on the way. Tottenham won the reverse fixture 5-0.

West Ham vs. Southampton

16th placed Southampton are secure for the season as they travel to 11th placed West Ham. There were many expectations for West Ham but Pellegrini has fell short of them as they look to end the season on a high and start a fresh next season. A game of no consequence but hopefully both teams want to win. West Ham won the reverse fixture 1-2.

Wolverhampton vs. Fulham

7th placed Wolves take on 19th placed Fulham as they look to maintain their 7th placed position for this season. Fulham are in a good patch of form having won their last three but it has come a little too late as they are already Championship bound. Wolves will look to end their home season on a high but have struggled against bottom half teams so this should be an interesting game. The reverse fixture was a 1-1 draw.

Cardiff City vs. Crystal Palace

18th placed Cardiff take on 12th placed Palace knowing that they need to win their remaining two games and hope Brighton drop points to stand any chance of playing Premier League football next season. Cardiff have lost their last two and will hope their final home game brings them some luck for this season. A loss in this game and Cardiff are out. The reverse fixture was a 0-0 draw.

Newcastle vs. Liverpool

Liverpool travel to 13th placed Newcastle as they look to move back into 1st for now. Benitez and Newcastle will look to end their home fixtures on a high and causing Liverpool to lose the title would be a great send off for the home fans. Liverpool have a visit from Barcelona to think about as well but priority will be given to this fixture. Liverpool won the reverse fixture 4-0.

Huddersfield vs. Man United

Bottom placed Huddersfield play their last home game in the Premier League against United who are looking to bounce back with a win having not won their last 3 games. On paper this should be a straightforward victory for United but Huddersfield have nothing to lose and a rare win against United would be a great way to sign off from home in the Premier League. United won the reverse fixture 3-1.

Arsenal vs. Brighton

5th placed Arsenal take on 17th placed Brighton as Arsenal look end a run of 3 losses with a win and a top four finish. Brighton are 4 points clear of 18th placed Cardiff and a win would see them secure a position in next season’s premier league. A draw would also be enough for Brighton but Cardiff would have to lose. A loss would be enough if Cardiff lost as well. Stakes high on both sides. The reverse fixture was a 1-1 draw.

Man City vs. Leicester

1st placed City entertain 8th placed Leicester as they push for the title once again. Leicester are in great form recently and pose a threat to City who have been grinding out results at this point in the season. No margin for error in City’s case and nothing to lose for Leicester as they try to spoil the potential party at City. Leicester won the reverse fixture 2-1.

La Liga MW 36

Sevilla entertain Leganes, Atletico travel to Espanyol, Barcelona travel to Celta Vigo, Real Madrid welcome Villarreal, and Valencia travel to Huesca. Serie MW 35
