The penultimate Premier League game!
Chelsea’s last home game of the season sees us welcome Watford to the Bridge as we seek to seal a top four place for next season in our two remaining games. Watford are 10th in the table but have had a good season having played some appealing football while also having reached the FA Cup final where they will face City. Watford are in the group of Wolves, Leicester, and Everton where they are battling it out for 7th while also taking points off of the top six. Watford’s main threat is up front with the likes of Deulofeu and Gray causing havoc with pace and skill although Deeney should also be back for this game having served a suspension.
Chelsea have not won in our last 3 games having drawn the last two. In normal circumstances we should have been clear of the rest by now and closer to 2nd than the race for the top four but our poor form has let us down. The silver lining has been that Spurs, Arsenal, and United have been extremely poor as well and so the race for the top four has continued to move on each gameweek. For Chelsea it is a must win scenario because the Champions League is of the utmost importance and it would be great if we won our remaining two games and headed into a potential Europa League final knowing that we had already sealed a top four finish. The other subplot for Chelsea whether fans want to focus on it or not is that this could be Hazard’s last home Premier League game if he does decide to move to Madrid in the summer. Hazard has been great this season and it would be a great send off if he could seal this season with a top four finish and a trophy to boot.
Chelsea Team Preview
Rudiger, and CHO are the players who are out for months but the rest of the squad should be fit. Kepa should start in goal, Azpi, Luiz, Christensen, and Alonso should start in defence, Jorginho, Kante, and Loftus-Cheek should start in midfield, and Hazard, Higuain, and Pedro should start upfront. Barkley could start ahead of RLC depending on whether Sarri wants to rotate while Zappacosta could also feature in a similar way. Alonso would be an option for rotation if Emerson is given a rest.
Watford Team Preview
Deeney is back from suspension while Cathcart is out. Gray has been in good form and it will be interesting to see if he is replaced by Deeney or if Watford play a front three.
Starting XI Prediciton
Final home game of the domestic season and a win is needed. COME ON YOU BLUES!!!
