Kovacic Signs Permanently

Kovacic is here to stay!

July 1st brought quite a few announcements from Cobham as players like Cahill saw there contract end officially, a new intake of graduates was conducted, and Uwakwe, George McEachran, and Juan Castillo signed new deals. Amongst all that the most major official news was that Kovacic signed for Chelsea on a permanent deal.

Kovacic sings a 5 year deal with Chelsea and the reported fee is around 40 million pounds. The reason we were able to buy Kovacic even with a ban in place was because we had already loaned him last season and we simply had to pay the money before July 1st to seal the deal. There have been mixed reactions to the signing of Kovacic but in my opinion he is a good addition to the squad and can improve along with the team in the coming season.

Kovacic is more suited to a deep lying midfield role in which he can dictate play, he is skillful with the ball at his feet and he as an eye for a pass although one area he lacks in is goal scoring. Kovacic went the whole 18/19 season without a goal the only Chelsea midfielder to do so who played regularly. Kovacic’s best performance arguably came in the Europa League final against Arsenal where alongside Kante and Jorginho they ran the Arsenal midfield out of the park. With the ban in place and an injury to Ruben at the moment Kovacic only adds strength to the team and hopefully he can improve in the coming season.
