A tough test on return to league football!
Chelsea travel to top 6 killers Wolves as we look to maintain our push to the top of the table. Chelsea are currently 11th while Wolves are 17th having not won a single game this season and having lost in their last game. Wolves have been involved in the Europa League where they have played an impressive campaign progressing to the group stage of this years competition. Wolves are clearly making the Europa League a priority and while they might not be able to push the heights of last season’s campaign domestically they should be safe from the relegation zone.
Chelsea go into this game having shown signs of improvement after the defeat on opening weekend to United but costly errors defensively have meant that we have only won one game this season. Going forward we have been good but the lack of Kante, Rudiger, and players like Azpi with whom time is catching up. Although with teams like United, Arsenal, and Spurs all in similar positions points wise Chelsea have not done badly at all. Lampard has brought in fresh energy from players like Mount, Tammy, and Pulisic although it would be nice if more players joined in with the goal scoring especially Pulisic.
Chelsea Team Preview
Chelsea will have Rudiger, and Pedro back for this game but Kante is still a week away with his ankle continuing to cause problems. Hudson-Odoi played 60 minutes for the development squad yesterday and looked sharp as ever while Reece James played 45 and showed why we need him in the team. CHO is most likely to start his first game against Valencia or Grimsby while Reece James will most likely feature against Grimsby as well. Kepa will start in goal, Alonso at left back although Maatsen did not feature for the development squad but playing the youngster would raise some eyebrows. Rudiger, Christensen, and Azpilicueta to round of the defence. Kovacic, Jorginho, and Mount should start in the midfield with Pulisic, Pedro, and Tammy starting up front.
Wolverhampton Team Preview
Wolves will be without Boly who received a red card against Everton in the last game. The rest of the squad should be available for Nuno as he employs his 3-5-2 formation. It remains to be seen which players start considering they have Europa League to contend with as well.
Starting XI Prediciton
A tricky fixture, Chelsea cannot make any silly mistakes and we will have to be clinical with the chances we get. A win at Wolves would be a massive boost for Chelsea considering how many points Nuno takes from the top 6 sides. COME ON YOU BLUES!!!
