Chelsea vs. Brighton Preview

Looking for that first home win in the league!

Chelsea take on Brighton in our final of four home games played in the last two weeks. We lost to Valencia, we were beaten by Liverpool, we beat Grimsby and now Lampard and co will be hoping to end it with a first home win in the league. The small mistakes or lapses in concentration have cost us this season in several games as we sit 11th in the Premier League largely due to goal difference and having conceded 13 goals. Brighton are 15th and have not won in 5 game weeks and hopefully Chelsea can make that into 6 with three points at home.

Chelsea were great against Grimsby although the squad was largely rotated with a good mix of youth and experience but by the end of it was largely youth. The attack has been good for Chelsea but we need to start solidifying the back line if we are to move up the table. Losing with promise is all well and good if it is against the likes of Liverpool or City but Sheffield, and Leicester were dropped points and United was just an anomaly. Fans no matter how patient will want wins against the lesser teams and Chelsea can count themselves lucky that Spurs, United, and Arsenal have been as poor if not worse. Lampard has stated that now Chelsea need to start converting promise into wins and with a favourable set of fixtures coming up starting this weekend Chelsea can for sure go on a winning run.

Chelsea Team Preview

Rudiger, Emerson, and Christensen will probably not feature while Giroud is apparently ill. Kepa will be back in goal, Alonso should start at left back, Tomori should be back alongside Zouma although I can see Zouma getting a rest maybe in favour of Guehi or Azpilicueta. At right back with Lille coming up and a shortness in defence I would start Reece James and play Azpi at centre back or even rest him. Jorginho and Kante should be back and I would add Mount to the midfield three with Kovacic rested. Hudson-Odoi should start with Pulisic on the other side while Tammy should start up front. This is an incredibly hopeful lineup from me but I have a strong feeling Willian might be selected ahead of Pulisic or Hudson-Odoi. Hopefully not.

Brighton Team Preview

Brighton have a slew of injuries with Duffy, Trossard, March, Bernardo, and Balogun all out. Murray should be available for Potter while Jahanbaksh should also be in contention. I expect Brighton to stick with 3 at the back as they look to fight for a point at least.

Starting XI Prediction

This is a must win game for Chelsea and with a rested squad we should get three points! COME ON YOU BLUES!!!
