Weekend Football Preview

Big Big Weekend!

Premier League MW 12

Norwich vs. Watford

The big weekend of football kicks off on Friday with the bottom two clubs going head to head. Watford are still looking for their first win this season and they visit Norwich who have not won anything since they beat City. A loss for Watford would make it a 5 point gap while if Watford won then they would at least move off the bottom. Two struggling teams and an interesting game.

Burnley vs. West Ham

14th vs. 13th as two teams next to each other go head to head again. Burnley have had 3 straight losses while West Ham have not won in five as they visit the Clarets. A win for either team could see them move into the top 10 heading into the international break. It is another game where the clubs are struggling and so it could go either way.

Newcastle vs. Bournemouth

7th placed Bournemouth take on 15th placed Newcastle as the Cherries look to move into 5th going into the international break. Newcastle need to win and are in some good form going into this game while Bournemouth are unbeaten in three. Unlike the first two games these teams are in decent form and it should be a close one.

Southampton vs. Everton

18th vs. 17th in another 6 point game. Everton are 3 clear of Southampton and a win for the Toffees would see them move 6 points clear of the relegation zone. Southampton are in dismal form while Everton will have extra impetus to perform after the Gomes loss. Expect Everton to win but Southampton to make it tough.

Tottenham vs. Sheffield United

Tottenham sit in 11th as Sheffield visit who are sitting in 6th. Sheffield have been brilliant this season and are looking to move into 5th above Arsenal. Tottenham have not won in four games but they got a decent win in the Champions League during the week. Sheffield should make it an entertaining game but Son is in form and so this could go either way.

Leicester vs. Arsenal

3rd placed Leicester take on 5th placed Arsenal in a top 6 clash. A win for Leicester and a City loss could see them move into 2nd and Arsenal drop into 7th while an Arsenal win would just reduce the gap between 4th and 5th. Arsenal drew agains Vitoria during the week and with Leicester in fine form I can only see one winner and that is Rodgers.

Man United vs. Brighton

10th vs. 8th as two mid table sides go head to head. Brighton are looking to move into the top 6 with a win but thy travel to a United side who got a decent win against Partizan in the Europa League during the week. Brighton are a good team and have a good manager while Ole is Ole and so while United could win this game I could see Brighton getting a point or more.

Wolverhampton vs. Aston Villa

12th vs. 16th as Wolves look to go into the top 10 and back in familiar territory while Villa have been playing well but also have been unlucky. Consistency has been a problem for Villa and Wolves are finally hitting form and so I see this as a win for Wolves but a tough one.

Liverpool vs. Man City

Unbeaten Liverpool entertain City who are 6 points behind them in what is probably the clash of the season. A win for Liverpool and the gap is 9 points or 8 depending on results elsewhere while a win for City and the gap is reduced to 3 points. City drew during the week and lost Ederson to a potential injury and that could see Bravo start while Liverpool are flying high and grinding out results on a weekly basis. This is not a title decider yet especially after what happened last season but a win for Liverpool would be massive and a loss for City could see them drop into 4th going into the international break.

La Liga MW 13

Real Madrid travel to Eibar, Barcelona take on Celta Vigo, Atletico invite Espanyol, and Real Betis take on Sevilla. Granada travel to Valencia. Barcelona, Real and Sociedad are level on points although Barca and Real have a game in hand. La Liga similar to other leagues is particularly interesting this season due to the big teams being in inconsistent form. An interesting weekend ahead.

Serie MW 12

Inter welcome Verona, Napoli take on Genoa, Atalanta travel to Sampdoria, Roma travel to Parma, and Juventus take on Milan. Juventus and Inter lead the rest and its a tough few games for both teams and the big teams in general. Milan are not the opposition they once were and so Juventus should make it a win.

Bundesliga MW 11

Leipzig travel to Berlin to play Hertha, Monchengladbach take on Werder Bremen, Leverkusen travel to Wolfsburg, and Frankfurt play Freiburg. The biggest game of the weekend is Bayern vs Dortmund. Bayern have sacked Kovac and are manager less while Dortmund got a big win against Inter coming from 0-2 down and so will be motivated. A win is crucial for both teams as Monchengladbach could go 6 points clear at the top.

Ligue MW 13

Nice take on Bordeaux, PSG travel to Brest, Lille take on Metz, Monaco take on Dijon, and Marseille take on Lyon. PSG are 7 points clear and could go 10 points clear in a league that really needs to do something with its smaller teams. PSG’s to lose already.
