Goals galore!

Premier League MW 13

West Ham 2 vs. 3 Tottenham

Tottenham got their first away win since January in what was Mourinho’s first game in charge as they beat West Ham in a nervy game. Tottenham dominated for 60 minutes of the game as Mourinho already seemed to have made them tighter and more compact at the back. Son opened the scoring in the 36th minute and Moura added a 2nd in the 43rd minute after some great play between Son and Alli. Harry Kane then added a 3rd for Spurs in the 49th minute. Mourinho feeling he had sealed the game made some changes later in the game but it allowed West Ham to attack and they got two late goals thanks to Antonio and Ogbonna as Tottenham just managed to get by. Tottenham climb up to 10th in the league while West Ham remain 16th.

Arsenal 2 vs. 2 Southampton

Ings got the ball rolling for Southampton in the 8th minute as he gave the Saints a lead in a crucial game for both teams. Emery already under pressure had Lacazette to thank as he equalised in the 18th minute. Arsenal were dismal in the 1st half and if Southampton had had better forwards they could have easily been 3-4 goals down. Ward-Prowse then restored the lead for Southampton in the 71st minute but the Saints could not hold on as Lacazette once again scored in the 96th minute to manage a point for the Gunners. There were no celebrations from Arsenal players and Southampton players were on the floor knowing that they had lost three points on the day. Emery should be sacked but he should have been sacked a couple of weeks ago. As of now the blame lies with the board at Arsenal and I feel sorry for Emery, also social media making fun of him is one thing but for the reporter to make fun of him to his face is a disgrace and completely unprofessional. Arsenal drop down to 8th with while Southampton remain 19th.

Bournemouth 1 vs. 2 Wolverhampton

An important clash that Wolves edged out as they beat Bournemouth. Moutinho, and Jimenez scored within 35 minutes to give Wolves a good lead and Francis was sent off for Bournemouth on the 37th minute to make it a great half for the away team. Cook got one back for the Cherries in the 57th minute but Wolves held on for the three points. Bournemouth drop down to 11th with the loss while Wolves climb up to 5th and back to familiar territory.

Brighton 0 vs. 2 Leicester

Leicester had to wait until the 2nd half for 3 points against Brighton but goals from Perez and Vardy made sure that the Foxes continued their winning run. Brighton drop down to 12th with the loss while Leicester go clear in 2nd after Chelsea dropped points.

Crystal Palace 1 vs. 2 Liverpool

Liverpool once again fought hard for a win as they beat Palace by a goal. A cagey 1st half saw all the goals come in the 2nd as Mane gave Liverpool the lead in the 49th minute. Palace had been playing well and were rewarded for their hard work as Zaha equalised in the 82nd minute. It looked like Liverpool would be dropping points but Firmino popped up to score the winner in the 85th minute. Liverpool remain top as it really does look like their trophy to lose this year while Palace drop into 13th.

Everton 0 vs. 2 Norwich

Norwich finally managed to win a game after beating City as they beat Everton in Liverpool. All the goals came in the 2nd half as Cantwell opened the scoring in the 54th minute and Srbeny added a 2nd in extra time. Everton reman 15th but the pressure is piling on Marco Silva especially after a summer of good investment. Norwich’s win means that they move up to 18th and only a point from safety.

Watford 0 vs. 3 Burnley

Another game in which the goals came in the 2nd half as Watford’s good run came to an end with a crushing defeat against Burnley. Wood gave Burnley the lead in the 53rd minute while Barnes and Tarkowski added goals in the final 10 minutes to seal the win. Watford drop to the bottom of the table with the loss while Burnley climb up to 7th with the win.

Sheffield United 3 vs. 3 Man United

Sunday only had the one game but it did not disappoint as United travel to Bramall Lane. Sheffield took an early lead through Josh Fleck in the 19th minute and dominated the 1st half as United held on. De Gea made some brilliant saves and Sheffield should have easily had 2 or 3 goals. Moussett then started the 2nd half in similar fashion as the lead was doubled in the 52nd minute. Sheffield decided to sit back after the 2nd goal and that invited pressure from United who had made some attacking substitutions. Youngster Williams got a goal back for United with a good volley in the 72nd minute and fellow youth player Greenwood came off the bench to equalise in the 77th minute as United were suddenly back in the game. Rashford then gave United the lead in the 79th minute as United fans went crazy. It seemed like Ole was going to get a contract extension but McBurnie equalised for Sheffield in the 90th minute after some VAR drama. Points shared between the two teams but Sheffield would have felt the worst after losing all three. Ole survives another day as United drop down to 9th while Sheffield drop down to 6th.

La Liga MW 14

Barcelona beat Leganes 1-2, Betis beat Valencia 2-1, Atletico drew with Granada 1-1, and Real beat Sociedad 3-1 after being 1-0 down. La Liga is tight at the top with Barcelona and Real Madrid tied at the top but Atletico 3 points behind in 4th. Sevilla are doing well as they sit 3rd in the table. The pressure is still on Valverde the most as fans are beginning to feel annoyed with the narrow wins.

Serie MW 13

Juventus beat Atalanta 1-3 after being 1-0 down thanks to goals from Higuain and Dybala, Napoli drew with Milan 1-1, Inter beat Torino 0-3, and Roma beat Brescia 3-0. Juventus lead Serie A by a point with Inter close behind. Lazio are 3rd although 7 points behind Inter while Roma are 4th 2 points behind Lazio. Napoli are 7th while Milan are 12th as Ancelotti begins to face some pressure.

Bundesliga MW 12

Paderborn were bottom of the table and beating Dortmund 3-0 but the Borussian’s came back to draw the game, Leverkusen drew with Freiburg 1-1, Schalke beat Werder Bremen 1-2, Union Berlin beat Monchengladbach 2-0 in a surprise result, Wolfsburg beat Frankfurt 0-2, Bayern beat Dusseldorf 0-4 and Leipzig beat Koln 4-1. Monchengladbach still lead the Bundesliga by a point while Leipzig, Bayern, and Freiburg make up the top four. Schalke are 5th 3 points behind 1st while Dortmund are 6th. Favre is under pressure as Poch, Kovac etc are beginning to be looked at.

Ligue MW 14

PSG beat Lille 2-0, Lyon beat Nice 2-1, Bordeaux beat Monaco 2-1, and Marseille beat Toulouse 0-2. PSG maintain their 8 point gap at the top of the table while Marseille, Angers, and Bordeaux make up the top four. Lyon are 9th, Lille are 10th, and Monaco are 14th as Ligue 1 continues to be the most lacklustre league out of the big ones.
