Chelsea 0 vs. 1 West Ham Review

Not good enough!

Chelsea had a great chance to recoup the gap between City and us but we lost at home to West Ham in a lacklustre afternoon. Lampard picked a very good lineup with Kepa starting in goal, Emerson, Tomori, Zouma, and Reece making up the defence, and Jorginho, Kovacic, and Mount making up the midfield. Up front saw Pedro, and Giroud start their first games in a while alongside Pulisic.

The game started off in the usual fashion with Chelsea having chance after chance as Pulisic and Reece James particularly shined bright. The ball though did not find the back off the net as Giroud could not take his chances. West Ham had made a change in goal and 33 year old Dean Martin made some great saves as he kept West Ham in the game. West Ham’s winner came in the 2nd half as Cresswell cut in from the right hand side to slot the ball into the net in the 48th minute. Lampard brought on Willian, Kante, and Hudson-Odoi but neither could have any real impact as West Ham stayed strong. West Ham always rally for a game against Chelsea and Pellegrini eased off pressure with a big win.

Player wise Kepa kept Chelsea in the game in the 2nd half as he made some big saves and should have silenced some doubters who might have popped up in recent weeks. Emerson was decent in the first half although he did not have much to do while Tomori, and Zouma also had less to worry about. The goal came from Reece James side but apart from that the youngster had a brilliant game and if Chelsea had had Tammy or another striker in form then James would have had 2-3 assists at least. Jorginho did not have the best of games and was subbed off in the 2nd half while Kovacic was once again his brilliant best. Mount also made no real impact in this game as he needs to find that early season form. Pedro was poor and did not offer much while missing some key chances in the 1st half. Pulisic was the best Chelsea player on the pitch as he was a constant threat to the Hammers and probably deserved a goal for his efforts. Giroud did not make the most of his chance and missed a clear header right before half time which would have seen Chelsea take the lead. Kante was the best off the subs followed by Hudson-Odoi while Willian below par.

Winless in the last 3 Chelsea need to start winning again as the top four begins to rejoin the rest of the league slowly and steadily. Next up is Aston Villa at the Bridge and this is a must win game although Villa did play well against United. COME ON YOU BLUES!!!
