Midweek Football Preview

Festive period continues!

Premier League MW 15

Crystal Palace vs. Bournemouth

11th vs. 12th as Palace look to make it 2 wins in 2 games, while Bournemouth look to bounce back after having lost their last 3 games. These teams are both defensively decent and have pace going forward and so this should be a cagey affair and could end in a draw. The teams are looking to break into the top 10 while a loss for Bournemouth could see them fall even farther than they are currently.

Burnley vs. Man City

10th placed Burnley are looking to bounce back from their defeat while Man City are looking to bounce back from drawing their last game. Pep and City will know that anymore points dropped would be catastrophic to an already shambolic title defence while Burnley will know that this City team are beatable. A good game to keep an eye on with all the pressure on Pep and co.

Leicester vs. Watford

2nd vs. 20th as manager less Watford travel to Leicester looking to bounce back with a win. Leicester want to make it 7 out of 7 and they should easily do it considering their current form. These games are potential egg shells though and so there can be no lapse in concentration from Rodgers and his team.

Man United vs. Tottenham

Probably the most interesting game as Mourinho takes his newly resurgent Tottenham to United where he was sacked last season. Tottenham have moved upwards since appointing Mourinho while United have been moving down after having a good start to the season. 9th vs 5th and I can only see one winner from this fixture and that is Tottenham although Ole and co have played better against the bigger teams this season.

Southampton vs. Norwich

18th vs. 19th in another relegation battle. Southampton won round one against Watford at the weekend but Norwich are in good form at the moment and could manage a point or more. An interesting game as both teams look to climb out of the bottom three.

Wolverhampton vs. West Ham

West Ham are up to 13th with their win against Chelsea but face a tough test against Wolves who are looking to bounce back with a win after their draw against Sheffield. Wolves will be happy to let West Ham attack and a loss for the Hammers would bring the pressure back on Pellegrini. Quality their on both sides but the most diligent in defence should win.

Liverpool vs. Everton

The Merseyside derby has two teams in very different places. Liverpool are flying high while Everton are 17th and Silva is under serious pressure that is to say if he is still in charge for this game. Everton have a good squad but its not clicking at the moment while Liverpool are far from their best but are grinding out results in mechanical fashion. Liverpool should win this and if Everton manage a point or more it would be a big shock.

Sheffield United vs. Newcastle

Newcastle sit 14th as they travel to Sheffield who are 7th after the Magpies got a brilliant point against City. Sheffield are looking to win after drawing their last three games while Newcastle are looking to win in general. An interesting game but considering Sheffield are better overall I expect the Blades to win this game.

Arsenal vs. Brighton

Brighton are 16th while Arsenal are 8th as the Seagulls look to get their first points after three successive losses. Brighton have played well but have fallen short on several occasions this season but Potter has a philosophy and good team unity, something that can not be said about Arsenal. Ljunberg took charge of his first ever game in management with a draw against Norwich and while Arsenal have all the quality to win this game I expect it to be a tough one.

Ligue MW 16

Marseille travel to Angers in a top four clash, Lyon take on Lille, Monaco travel to Toulouse, and PSG take on Nantes. PSG and Monaco play their games after a week of rest while the rest of the teams continue to play catchup to PSG.
