Liverpool for sure can’t lose now!

Premier League MW 14

Newcastle 2 vs. 2 Man City

2 goals in the first half and 2 goals in the second half as Man City dropped points in the title race once again. Sterling gave City the lead in the 22nd minute but Willems equalised in the 25th minute. De Bruyne then scored a worldie in the 82nd minute which was deserving of a winner but Newcastle had played well throughout the game and Shelvey equalised in the 88th minute with a beautiful shot of his own. Newcastle remain 14th with the point while City are under pressure as they stay 3rd but now 3 points behind Leicester and 11 behind Liverpool, with Pep under pressure.

Burnley 0 vs. 2 Crystal Palace

Zaha scored right before half time and Schlupp added a goal in the 2nd half as Palace got a big win away at Burnley. Burnley had been doing well but Palace had also shown form perhaps finding themselves unlucky to be where they were in the table. Burnley drop down to 10th with the loss while Palace move up to 11th with the win as the two teams go level on points.

Liverpool 2 vs. 1 Brighton

Van Dijk scored in the 18th and 24th minute to give Liverpool a good lead but the game ended in nervous fashion as Alisson was sent off in the 76th minute and Dunk got one back for Brighton in the 79th minute. Liverpool though managed the 3 points to keep the gap at 8 but it was nervy display once again by Klopp’s men. The loss for Brighton means that they drop to 16th in the table.

Tottenham 3 vs. 2 Bournemouth

Dele Alli has picked up form since Jose has been appointed as he opened the lead for Tottenham in the 21st minute. Alli once again scored in the 50th minute before Sissoko also scored his first goal in a long time in the 69th minute. Bournemouth got two late goals by Harry Wilson though as Mourinho had to endure another nervy ending to a game. 3 games 3 wins but the defence is not sorted yet as Mourinho continues to work. Tottenham climb up to 5th with the win as they sit 6 points behind Chelsea while Bournemouth drop down to 12th.

Southampton 2 vs. 1 Watford

The battle at the bottom saw Southampton come out on top after a late comeback. Sarr gave Watford the lead in the 24th minute and Watford maintained that lead until the final 20 minutes of the 2nd half. Ings equalised for Southampton in the 78th minute and Ward-Prowse scored yet another free kick in the 83rd minute to seal three points for the Saints. The win saw Southampton climb up 18th and and 2 points from safety while Watford remain bottom and sacked Flores for a 2nd time on Sunday.

Norwich 2 vs. 2 Arsenal

Arsenal started off their Freddie tenure with another draw as Norwich dominated the game but could not get three points. Pukki scored after some time to give Norwich the lead in the 21st minute but Aubameyang scored in the 29th minute to equalise for Arsenal. Cantwell then restored the lead for Norwich right before half time. Aubameyang then scored a penalty in the 57th minute to equalise after the penalty was retaken as VAR judged that Krul was off his line. Norwich kept the pressure up but Leno made several brilliant saves to get the point for Arsenal. Norwich drop down to 19th with the point but 3 points from safety while Arsenal remain 8th.

Wolverhampton 1 vs. 1 Sheffield United

Moussett gave Sheffield the lead in the 2nd minute in what what was a top 10 clash as Sheffield started brightly. Wolves grew into the game though and in the 2nd half equalised via Doherty in the 64th minute. On the balance of play both teams deserved a point as Wolves dropped to 6th while Sheffield dropped to 7th.

Leicester 2 vs. 1 Everton

Leicester completed a brilliant comeback in the dying minutes of the game to continue their winning run. Richarlison gave Everton the lead in the 23rd minute as they started off well and had a good first half. Silva though decided to keep the lead and that invited Leicester to push on as Vardy equalised in the 68th minute. The point would still have been a positive one for Silva and his team but Iheanacho came off the bench to score a brilliant goal in the 94th minute. VAR checked whether Iheanacho was offside and after some suspense it showed that he was not and Leicester won the game. Silva’s face said it all but Everton’s performance was a positive one although he could still be sacked while Leicester went clear in 2nd. Everton dropped down to 17th.

Man United 2 vs. 2 Aston Villa

United were lucky to manage a point at home against a strong Villa side who would have been sad to leave with a point. Grealish gave Villa the lead in the 11th minute after a brilliant curling effort but Villa could not convert more of their early chances. United equalised via a gift as Mings made a poor clearance which allowed Rashford to get a shot on goal which bounced off of Heaton and into the net. 1-1 at halftime but United with a lifeline. Villa started the 2nd half in positive fashion once again but it was United who got the lead in the 64th minute via a Lindelof header. Mings then broke the offside trap thanks to young Brandon Williams and equalised for Villa in the 66th minute. Villa remained 15th with the point while United remained 9th with the point. Any manager other than Ole would be under pressure or would have been sacked by now but United seem to be happy with him.

La Liga MW 15

Real Madrid beat Alaves 1-2, Sevilla beat Leganes 1-0, and Barcelona beat Atletico 0-1 thanks to a brilliant goal by Messi. Barcelona remain top of the table while Real are 2nd and level on points. Sevilla are a point behind them in 3rd while Real Sociedad are 4 points behind Sevilla in 4th. Atletico sit 6th after the loss, as La Liga continues to be an entertaining league this season.

Serie MW 14

Juventus drew with Sassuolo 2-2 thanks to a Ronaldo goal late on, Inter beat SPAL 2-1 to have their best start to a Serie A campaign ever, Milan beat Parma 0-1, Bologna beat Napoli 1-2, and Roma beat Verona 1-3. Inter move to the top of Serie A with 1 point lead over Juventus while Lazio and Roma make up the top four. Napoli are now 7th and winless in several games now as Ancelotti could face the sack while Milan are 11th. Serie A like La Liga has picked up interest this season with Juventus’s domination finally being challenged by Conte and Inter.

Bundesliga MW 13

Talking about dominance being challenged the Bundesliga continued to catch an eye this weekend. Schalke beat Union Berlin 2-1, Dortmund beat Hertha Berlin 1-2, Leipzig beat Paderborn 2-3, Bayer beat Bayern 1-2, and Monchengladbach beat Freiburg 4-2. Monchengladbach maintain their 1 point lead at the top while Leipzig are 2nd, Schalke and Bayern make up the top four while Dortmund are 5th. The Bundesliga is the craziest league at the moment with dominance being challenged at multiple levels.

Ligue MW 15

Marseille beat Brest 2-1, Lyon beat Strasbourg 1-2, Lille beat Dijon 1-0, while the Monaco PSG game was postponed. PSG’s lead at the top is cut down to 5 points although they have the game in hand while Marseille, Angers, and Montpellier make up the top four. Lyon are 7th, Lille are 8th and Monaco are 14th but have the game in hand. Ligue 1 is also interesting although PSG will probably win it as usual.
