Everton vs. Chelsea Preview

A tough game made even tougher with Silva gone.

Chelsea travel to Liverpool to play Everton in MW 16 as we sit 4th in the table while Everton sit 18th. Everton started the season in decent form under Marcos Silva and after a summer of big spending they had a squad of talented players but things did not click. The loss of Gueye to PSG was a big one and then their replacement Gbamin got injured. Everton did pick up some form but lost their last three games as Marcos Silva was finally sacked. Duncan Ferguson is installed as the caretaker manager for this game while their is a possibility Moyes could be back in charge of the club following the game. Everton have a good squad of players and are unlucky to find themselves where they are.

Chelsea returned to winning ways against Villa on Wednesday and while the scoreline was only 2-1 it could have easily been more especially given Chelsea’s domination in the 2nd half. Chelsea’s biggest problem is that we do not finish the chances we create and thats why are chances created to goal scored ratio is a bit off. The game had several good performances though as Mount, Tammy, Pulisic, and Kovacic continued to excel. Chelsea tend to do well against Everton home and away regardless of the manager but a new manager bounce is a real thing and Chelsea will have to be wary. The positive note is that our away form has been better than our home form.

Chelsea Team Preview

Kepa will probably stay in goal with James, and Zouma returning in defence. I expect that Tomori and maybe Emerson could be back in the defence as well. Jorginho should be back and Kovacic might be given a rest while Kante should continue alongside him. Mount should start in midfield once again while Willian might be given a rest with Pulisic and Hudson-Odoi starting on the wings. Tammy should start up front. Rudiger could be back for this game but most likely on the bench while RLC is still a some time away.

Everton Team Preview

It is tough to know what exact formation Everton will play but one can expect them to set up defensively to at least try to manage a point from the game. Their are plenty of players that can cause problems though with Iwobi, Richarlison, Digne, Sidibe, Calvert Lewin, Sigurdsson, Moise Kean, Walcott, Bernard, and Tosun all players that can be called upon. How Everton find themselves 18th with this squad is beyond me.

Starting XI Prediction

Chelsea need to put together another run of good wins and this is another opportunity. COME ON YOU BLUES!!!
