Chelsea 0 vs. 1 Bournemouth Review

Chelsea lost to Bournemouth on Saturday after another lacklustre performance with Bournemouth scoring a goal out of nowhere and then holding on to the goal for the win. The starting XI let me down a bit with Reece James and Hudson-Odoi on the bench while Kovacic was also rested. Still Chelsea had enough quality on the pitch for the three points but it was not so.

Chelsea started the game well but as time went on the impact lessened as there was plenty of sideways passing and Chelsea were not being able to create any clear chances. Chelsea just had plenty of possession and Bournemouth had one chance in the 84th minute and a lobbed effort over Kepa which was initially offside was ruled onside by VAR as 3 points were dropped. No one stood out during the game and taking of Jorginho for Kovacic once again opened our defence to an attack. Willian was poor once again and I really hoped that CHO would have started this game. Tammy and Pulisic look tired while our left back position continues to be a problem. The performances over the last few weeks have been similar to the poor form under Sarri last season and Sarri got a lot of abuse for that. Lampard won’t receive abuse and there will be patience because that is the way it should have been with Sarri as well. Kepa has also received his fair share of blame and he has been poor but he has also made plenty of saves and is still young, had a good debut season last year, and has a 7 year contract. The fans need to stop asking players to leave as soon as they hit some patchy form. Players that do need to leave are Willian, Pedro, Giroud, Barkley, and Alonso and three of those are almost certainly heading out in January. This would allow us to bring some quality into the side.

Our next game is against Spurs now who can go above us into 4th if they win and that would not be great. It doesn’t help that the game is against Mourinho but if there ever was a game in which the backroom staff and the youth had something to prove in then it was one against Mourinho. COME ON YOU BLUES!!!.
