Midweek Football Preview

Carabao Cup time!

Carabao Cup Quarter-Final

Aston Villa vs. Liverpool

Quarter Final comes to us from Birmingham as Villa take on Liverpool. The first team are in Qatar at the moment focusing on the Club World Cup and so Liverpool are expected to field a 2nd string side against Villa. Liverpool were not great against Watford and they got through and cup games are always different to league games. Villa should really be beating a 2nd string side and so this should be an entertaining game and a chance for Villa to gain some momentum in their season.

Everton vs. Leicester

Everton are in good form having picked up 4 points from 6 against Chelsea and United under Ferguson and now they entertain Leicester who dropped points against Norwich. Rumours are this might be Ferguson’s last game as caretaker as Ancelotti could be appointed and a great way to return to the backroom staff would be to beat Leicester. A close game expected.

Oxford vs. Man City

Oxford are 8th in League One having won 2 of their last 5 as they entertain City in the Carabao Cup. City are the holders and this should be a straight forward win with Pep fielding a 2nd string side. Oxford will probably make it tough but an upset is a far off possibility.

Man United vs. Colchester

Colchester are 9th in League Two as they travel to Old Trafford for a big game. Colchester are unbeaten in their last five and have won 3 of those games as they try to upset United. These are the type of games United struggle in and there could be an upset. Ole though has done well in the Europa League against lesser teams and so they should win this on paper.

La Liga

The game in hand in La Liga is being played on Wednesday night and its a big one. Barcelona invite Real Madrid in a fight between the top two with the winner going ahead. The teams are in good form but both drew at the weekend and overall have not been at their absolute best this season. This could be an open game and its obviously a must watch.

Bundesliga MW 16

Dortmund play Leipzig in a big game at the top of the table, Leverkusen entertain Hertha, Monchengladbach play Paderborn as they look to return to the top, Schakle travel to Wolfsburg, and Bayern travel to Freiburg. Some big games at the top of the Bundesliga as the likes of Bayern try to cut the gap even further this weekend.
