Weekend Football Preview

Non stop games.

Premier League MW 20

Brighton vs. Bournemouth

15th placed Brighton take on 16th placed Bournemouth with both teams looking for a win. Brighton are winless in their last four having lost their last two while Bournemouth are also winless in 2 after having beat Chelsea but they did get a decent point against Arsenal. Brighton tend to do better at home but this should be an open game.

Newcastle vs. Everton

Newcastle endured a heavy defeat against United on Boxing Day as they sit 10th in the table. Everton managed to beat Burnley at home for Ancelotti’s first win as they sit 13th and on a good run of form. Newcastle will want to return to winning ways and end the year on a high but Ancelotti will want a 2nd win.

Southampton vs. Crystal Palace

14th vs. 9th as Southampton look to make it 3 wins in a row as they travel to an inform Palace side. Southampton got an expected win against Chelsea on Boxing Day as the Blues have been so generous of late while Palace returned to winning ways after 3 games without one. A win would be brilliant for both teams and with Ings rested on Boxing Day the momentum might slightly be in Southampton’s favour.

Watford vs. Aston Villa

Villa got their first win in several games on Boxing day as they remain 18th in the table while Watford got a point to move into 19th. Watford need the win to cut the gap between them and Villa as Villa are 5 points clear and a home win would be a great way to end the year. An interesting game which could swing either way.

Norwich vs. Tottenham

Bottom of the table Norwich invite 5th placed Spurs for their final home game of 2019 with Norwich once again unlucky at the weekend to lose the game. Norwich have to win to maintain a passable gap but Tottenham did well to comeback against Brighton and Mourinho will be looking to enter the top four going into the New Year. Tottenham should win this game but Norwich will put up a fight.

West Ham vs. Leicester

West Ham endured yet another loss on Boxing Day as they sit 17th and a point above the relegation zone while Leicester are going through a mini crisis after having lost their last two and drawn the 3rd. Leicester now sit 13 points behind Liverpool and could be 3rd by the time this game kicks off and so going forward the best that anyone can really do is 2nd. West Ham will feel they can take advantage of Leicester but Rodgers will want to bounce back after poor results.

Burnley vs. Man United

Burnley sit 12th as they face Man United who are 7th. Burnley lost on Boxing Day while United beat Newcastle comfortably at home. An away trip is always tough for United and having played several key players against Newcastle Burnley will feel that they can bounce back with a win against Ole and his team.

Liverpool vs. Wolverhampton

Liverpool now 13 points clear with a game in hand will play their first home game since winning the Club World Cup and one can expect a great environment as Wolves will try to get a point or more against the Reds. Liverpool should win this game while Wolves who are 8th will hope they can spoil the party somehow.

Man City vs. Sheffield United

At the time of writing this City are yet to play and so they could easily be 2nd by the time this game kicks off although they do play Wolves. Sheffield drew on Boxing Day and are now 6th as they will look to spoil City’s New Year. City will need a miracle to catch up to Liverpool and all they can do is create a winning run of games.
