Big results!

Brighton 2 vs. 0 Bournemouth

Brighton got a big win at home to end the decade as Jahanbaksh scored his first Premier League goal in the 3rd minute and Mooy added the 2nd in the 79th minute. Brighton move up to 14th in the league as they began the decade in League 1 while Bournemouth remain 16th but a massive improvement for them over the decade as they began it in League Two. 

Newcastle 1 vs. 2 Everton

Calvert-Lewin continued his scoring streak by giving Everton the lead in the 13th minute. Schar equalised for Newcastle early in the 2nd half but Calvert-Lewin added a 2nd for Everton in the 64th minute. Ancelotti makes it 2 wins in 2 for his team as they end the decade unbeaten in their last 5 and moving up to 10th in the table. Newcastle drop into 11th having lost their last two games. These two teams were in the Premier League at the start of the decade and have maintained their position over the last 10 years although Newcastle did drop down. 

Southampton 1 vs. 1 Crystal Palace

A decent draw for Southampton as they continued their good form against Palace who also end the decade with a point. Tomkins gave Palace the lead in the 50th minute but Ings equalised for Southampton in the 74th minute. Southampton drop into 15th while Palace remain 9th. Southampton began the decade in League One and are now a staple of the Premier League while Palace began the decade in the Championship but are also now a Premier League side for some time. 

Watford 3 vs. 0 Aston Villa

Watford got a massive win against Villa in their battle to survive relegation as Deeney opened the scoring in the 42nd minute. Mariappa got a red in the 2nd half but Watford carried on with 10 men as Deeney added a 2nd via the penalty spot in the 67th minute. Sarr sealed matters in the 71st minute. Watford remain 19th but now only 3 points from safety while Villa remain 18th and a point from safety. Watford began the decade in the Championship but have been decent in the Premier League since then while Villa were in the Premier League at the start of the decade but did drop into the Championship only coming back into the Prem this season.

Norwich 2 vs. 2 Tottenham

Vrancic gave Norwich the lead in the 18th minute as Norwich gave Spurs a real challenege for 50 minutes. Eriksen then equalised via a free kick in the 55th minute but Aurier scored an own goal in the 61st minute to restore Norwich’s lead. Kane scored an 83rd penalty to get a lucky point for Spurs on a day when Norwich were the better team. Norwich get a point to end the decade as they remain 6 points from safety while Tottenham drop into 6th and 5 points from 4th. Norwich began the decade in League One and have dropped back and forth from the Championship for the last 10 years. Tottenham began the decade 4th in the Premier League and the best they have done is 2nd as they now have gone more than 10 years without a trophy of any sorts. 

West Ham 1 vs. 2 Leicester

Rodgers ruined everyone’s FPL by making 9 changes to his lineup and playing a 2nd string Leicester side but they got a win against West Ham and got Pellegrini the sack soon after. Iheanacho gave Leicester the lead in the 40th minute before Fornals equalised in the 45th minute. Gray then sealed three points for West Ham in the 56th minute. West Ham end the decade 17th in the table while Leicester remain 2nd a point above City and 13 behind Liverpool. West Ham began the decade in the Premier League and dropped into the Championship once as their best finish was 7th in the 15-16 season. Leicester began the decade in the Championship but are now a staple of the Premier League with the highlight of the last decade being them winning the Premier League in 15-16.

Burnley 0 vs. 2 Man United

United got 2 wins on the go as they beat Burnley thanks to goals from Martial and Rashford. A positive end to their decade in some way as they move up to 5th 4 points behind Chelsea. Burnley end the year at 13th with the loss. United have endured a tough 5 years but still end the decade with two titles. Burnley began the decade in the Premier League but have since shuffled between the competition and the Championship, their best finish was 7th in the 17/18 season.

Liverpool 1 vs. 0 Wolverhampton

Liverpool won yet another game thanks to a lucky goal from Mane in the 44th minute. Wolves had a goal disallowed due to another armpit VAR offside. Liverpool remain top of the table with a 13 point gap and a game in hand while Wolves drop down into 7th. Liverpool have been up their in the top four and narrowly lost the league in 13-14 with Gerrard’s infamous slip. They look likely to start the new decade by finally ending their title drought. Wolves began the decade in the Premier League but dropped as low as League One during the last 10 years. Recently though since last season they have been a constant threat in the top 10 and finished 7th last season.

Man City 2 vs. 0 Sheffield United

City beat Sheffield in a tough win thanks to goals from Aguero and De Bruyne. City remain 3rd and 14 points behind Liverpool while Sheffield and finished the decade 8th in the Prem. City have had a successful decade having won the title 4 times in the last 10 years. Sheffield on the other hand began the decade in the Championship but spent much of the last 10 years further down in League One. Only this season did they get promoted to the Premier League and have been a hit as they are pushing for a Europa League spot.
