Brighton vs. Chelsea Preview

Let’s begin the year with a win!

Chelsea begin 2020 and the new decade with a trip to Brighton who sit 14th in the table. Brighton have won 6, drawn 5 and lost 9 up till now as they sit 5 points above the relegation zone. Graham Potter has had an up and down season at the helm of the Seagulls but he is building something and they got a win to end 2019 on a high note.

Chelsea won the reverse fixture 2-0 as we Jorginho and Willian scored our goals on that day. One can expect Lampard to return to a 4-3-3 as the 3-4-3 was useless against Southampton and did not work against Arsenal. The key in this game will be to get the early goal and then push on from there. The longer the game continues goalless or if Brighton get the early goal then the game will be in the Seagulls favour. Chelsea and Lampard have done better away from home this season and so we should be able to notch a 2nd win in a row and start the year on a high.

Chelsea Team Preview

With the FA Cup at the weekend I expect the regulars to start against Brighton and then players to be rested against Nottingham Forest. Kepa should start in goal, Azpilicueta will probably start if Reece James is not fit although Lamptey could be given a surprise start after impressing against Arsenal. Rudiger, and Tomori should start in defence with Emerson at left back. Jorginho, Kovacic, and Mount should start in the midfield with Kante rested while Pulisic, and Hudson-Odoi should be given a run against Brighton with Tammy starting up front.

Brighton Team Preview

Brighton should start a similar lineup to their one against Bournemouth. Connolly has been a breakout start but his out while Propper, Mooy, Trossard, Jahanbaksh, and Maupay can all cause problems to Chelsea if the Blues drop their concentration.
