Weekend Football Preview

FA Cup is back!

FA Cup 3rd Round

Rochdale vs. Newcastle

Rochdale are 18th in League One as they entertain Newcastle who sit 13th in the Premier League. On paper this should be an easy win for Newcastle but away fixtures in the FA Cup are always shaky especially to smaller teams. A tough game is probably expected but Newcastle should make it.

Burnley vs. Peterborough

Peterborough are 6th in League One as they travel to Burnley who are going through a rough patch of form in the Premier League. Burnley should win this game especially after being at home.

Preston vs. Norwich

Preston sit 10th in the Championship as they welcome Norwich who are bottom of the Premier League. Preston will feel they can get result against Norwich who play good football but cant seem to hold a lead. Norwich should win but Preston could cause an upset.

Brighton vs. Sheffield Wednesday

Brighton sit 14th as they welcome Sheffield Wednesday who are 8th in the Championship. The teams are in similar form and so this should be an interesting game but Brighton tend to do well at home and should get the win.

Southampton vs. Huddersfield

Southampton are in great form as they entertain Huddersfield who sit 20th in the Championship. Southampton should make this an easy win and get a chance to rest some players as well.

Watford vs. Tranmere

Watford are another team in decent form as they welcome 21st placed Tranmere who sit in League One. Watford should rest players as they push to move out of the relegation zone while Tranmere should pose no real threat.

Fulham vs. Aston Villa

Fulham are 5th in the Championship and doing well as Villa are 17th in the Premier League and struggling of late. An interesting game that allows neither team to rest players as they will want to advance. Fulham could win especially after being at home.

Bournemouth vs. Luton

Luton are 24th in the Championship as they visit Bournemouth who are 18th in the Premier League. This would be a good chance for Bournemouth to gain some sort of relief from Premier League struggles agains Luton who are poor.

Wolverhampton vs. Man United

An all Premier League game as United travel to Wolves with both teams in patchy form. Wolves though are probably unlucky to be where they are while United have just been poor. Wolves will expect to win this game and advance further in the competition while United are staring at an early exit.

Man City vs. Port Vale

Port Vale are 10th in the League Two as they travel to Man City who are miles above them. For Port Vale this is nothing but a good day out against a bigger club and anything but a Man City win would be a massive shock.

Leicester vs. Wigan

Wigan are 22nd in the Championship as they travel to Leicester who are flying high in the Premier League. This should be an easy win for Leicester and a chance for Rodgers to rest his players and give youth a chance once again.

Middlesbrough vs. Tottenham

Middlesbrough are 16th in the Championship as they entertain Tottenham who are struggling a bit under Mourinho. Tottenham should win this game though and while Middlesbrough could steal a win it is not likely.

Sheffield United vs. Fylde

Fylde are 21st in the Conference which is the 5th tier of English football and for their fans this is just a good day out at a big club. Sheffield should make this an easy win with a chance to rest players and regroup after some tough losses.

Crystal Palace vs. Derby County

Derby are 17th in the Championship as they travel to London to play Palace who are 9th in the League. Derby just recently got Wayne Rooney in their ranks and this could be a fun game with both teams at similar levels. Palace will want to advance further and so probably won’t rest players. Palace should win but Derby will make it tough.

Liverpool vs. Everton

Liverpool play a derby against Everton in their game but unlike the previous ones this time Everton are managed by Ancelotti. Everton have improved in recent weeks and Liverpool will find it tougher to beat their neighbours. It would be great if Everton won but Liverpool will probably manage a win somehow.

Gillingham vs. West Ham

Gillingham are 11th in League One as they welcome West Ham who just got a bounce in their first game under Moyes. Moyes will hope progression in the FA Cup will help him get some more momentum but away fixtures are always tricky. West Ham should win this but Gillingham will probably make it tough.

Arsenal vs. Leeds

Leeds are 1st in the Championship as they travel to the Emirates to play Arsenal. Arsenal got a big win against United and Leeds will be another test for Arteta with Bielsa being a shrewd manager. Leeds finally look like they might make it back in the Prem for next season and this would be a good opportunity to beat a big side. An interesting game that can go either way.

La Liga MW 19

La Liga is back after its break with Sevilla welcoming Bilbao, Real Madrid travelling to Getafe, Atletico taking on Levante, and Barcelona playing Espanyol. Some tough games for the top four this weekend as Real Madrid look to catch up to Barcelona who are 2 points clear at the top of the table.

Serie MW 18

Serie A is back as well with Roma taking on Torino, Juventus welcoming Cagliari, Atalanta taking on Parma, Milan welcoming on Sampdoria with Ibrahimovic back at AC, and Napoli taking on Inter in the big game. Inter lead on goal difference as Juventus will hope Napoli take points off of them. Milan sit 11th 15 points from the top four as Ibrahimovic will hope that he can help his former side finish as high as possible.
