Chelsea vs. Nottingham Forest FA Cup 3rd Round Preview

FA Cup time!

Chelsea face Nottingham Forest at Stamford Bridge in the FA Cup 3rd round on Sunday as we look to bounce back from our draw against Brighton. Nottingham Forest are doing well in the Championship this season as they sit 4th in the league. Forest find themselves in the race for the play offs as Brentford are 3rd with the same points while West Brom are 2nd and 9 points clear of Forest. For Forest this is a great chance to push themselves in a competition which always has upsets and it only helps them that Chelsea’s home form is dubious.

Chelsea go into this game having drawn away at Brighton on New Years Day. The problems on that day were same old same old as we dominated play and possession of the ball but only managed to score one goal and then an amazing goal by Jahanbaksh got Brighton a point. At home we have been poor because at home we are supposed to control the game and the expectations from the crowd only seems to add more pressure on the players as the game goes on.

Chelsea Team Preview

Jody Morris was in charge of the pre match press conference and he stated that Alonso, and RLC were the players that would miss the game while Tomori had a slight bug. I expect Caballero to start in goal, Reece James to start at right back, Rudiger, Christensen to start as centre backs while Emerson should start at left back. Jorginho, Kovacic, and Barkley should start in the midfield while Pulisic, Hudson-Odoi, and Batshuayi should start up front. The teams has a mix of bench players and starters and I feel that Nottingham Forest are a decent enough side that we should not play too many youth players against.

Starting XI Prediction

This is a must win game as we look for a trophy this season and considering we dropped points against Brighton the trend means that we should win this game. COME ON YOU BLUES!!!
