Weekend Football Preview

Big games once again!

Premier League MW 23

Watford vs. Tottenham

Watford sit 17th but in high flying form as they take on Tottenham who sit 8th and have lost their two games and drawn the 3rd. Pearson has been great for the Hornets since he has come in as they win games and beat some big teams and Mourinho is struggling at the moment with his squad. Tottenham need to win as they continue to fall adrift of the top 4 while a win against Tottenham would be a massive boost for Watford in their race for survival. London derby and a feisty one expected. The reverse fixture was a 1-1 draw.

Arsenal vs. Sheffield United

10th placed Arsenal have 1 win in their last 5 games as they entertain Sheffield who sit 6th and returned to winning ways last weekend. Sheffield have been great this season but have fallen off a bit in their last few games. Arsenal and Arteta have improved but are still dropping points and with Aubameyang missing this would be a big chance for Martinelli. Sheffield can easily get points against Arsenal and this should be an interesting game. Sheffield beat Arsenal 1-0 in the reverse fixture.

Brighton vs. Aston Villa

Brighton sit 14th and have 1 win in 5 while Villa are 18th and lost last weekend to City. Brighton have had an ok season and at home they do tend to do better but Villa are fighting for survival and these are the teams they need to beat to survive. A big game for Villa and an interesting one for Brighton. Villa won the reverse fixture 2-1.

Man City vs. Crystal Palace

City have won their last three as they sit 2nd and back in form while Palace are 9th and have drawn their last 3 games. Palace have been City’s bogey team in recent seasons but City are flying at the moment and scoring plenty and so they should win this game. City won the reverse fixture 0-2.

Norwich vs. Bournemouth

A relegation scrap as bottom of the table Norwich take on 19th placed Bournemouth who sit 6 points above them. The teams are winless in some time and so one of them has to  drop points in this game and Norwich have to win if they want any chance at survival. A Bournemouth win would be massive for Eddie Howe and would most likely mean that Norwich are heading back to the Championship eventually. The reverse fixture was a 0-0 draw.

Southampton vs. Wolverhampton

Southampton are 12th and rising at fast pace as they take on Wolves who sit 7th and are winless in their last 3. Southampton are the team in form and Wolves are shaky as this game should be a fun open one with neither team really desperate for the win but Southampton are searching for that Europa League spot. The reverse fixture was a 1-1 draw.

West Ham vs. Everton

West Ham are 16th and lost last weekend as Everton sit 11th and are in good form under Ancelotti. West Ham need the win and Moyes will want to beat a legend like Ancelotti but Ancelotti has got Everton playing with confidence and so they should get a point or more in London. An interesting game. Everton won the reverse fixture 2-0.

Burnley vs. Leicester

Burnley are 15th and have lost their last 4 games as they welcome Leicester who lost last weekend and dropped into 3rd. Leicester are struggling at the moment and Burnley are falling into the relegation zone at a slow pace but Leicester should win this game on paper. Leicester and Rodgers could drop out of the top four if their poor form continues and so a win is something they need. Leicester won the reverse fixture 2-1.

Liverpool vs. Man United

A big game between two historic rivals as struggling United who sit 5th take on Liverpool who are flying high winning every game and looking to maintain their lead. Liverpool have only dropped points in one game this season and that is at Old Trafford in a 1-1 draw. Liverpool will want to beat Ole and if Rashford is missing then it could make it one difficult night for United. Taking points from Liverpool at Anfield would be a miracle for Ole and would probably get him a life time contract but Liverpool beat Mourinho last season in this fixture and was sacked and the pressure would be on Ole if they lost heavily against Liverpool.

La Liga MW 20

Real Madrid take on Sevilla, Atletico travel to Eibar, and Barcelona welcome Granada. Some decent games for Atletico and Barcelona while Real Madrid face a tough one against Sevilla. A potential stumbling block for Zidane and co in the race for the title but they should win it as Barcelona and Real remain neck and neck.

Serie MW 20

Napoli take on Fiorentina, Milan take on Udinese, Inter travel to Lecce, Juventus welcome Parma, and Atalanta entertain SPAL. Home game for all teams except Inter as Conte and co look to return back to the top after dropping down last weekend. Another entertaining league but Inter and Juve are well clear at the top while the rest fight for the remaining European places.

Bundesliga MW 18

Bundesliga is back after their winter break as Schalke welcome Monchengladbach, Dortmund travel to Augsburg, Leipzig take on Union Berlin, Bayern travel to Hertha Berlin, and Leverkusen travel to Paderborn. Leipzig lead the league as they sit 2 points clear of Monchengladbach while Bayern and Dortmund make up the top four. A massive 2nd half for the latter two as they look to climb back to the top while Leipzig and Monchengladbach chase a fairy tale title.

Ligue MW 21

Rennes travel to Nice, Marseille welcome Angers, Monaco welcome Strasbourg, Lyon entertain Toulouse, and Lille welcome PSG. PSG sit clear at the moment as the rest play catch up as they do every season.
