Post Arsenal Lampard said we needed to reinforce up front and get a new striker in who could support Tammy for the rest of the season. Well that did not happen and we are now 95% sure that we won’t get anyone in. So we continue with our football and hope and pray that no one gets injured going forward and we use the squad well to seal top four. Leicester have also not brought anyone in this window.
Leicester started the season off brilliantly and were one of the “contenders” for the title and in August they drew against us 1-1 in the reverse fixture. Leicester though have struggled against the the traditional top 6 this season and fell at big hurdles in with the likes of Liverpool, City etc all handing them defeats. They find themselves 3 points behind city who are 2nd and 8 points ahead of Chelsea and 14 points from 5th. So the larger perspective is that they should finish in the top four but recently they did suffer two defeats before winning last weekend. The silver lining for them has been that when they have dropped points teams like Chelsea, United, and Wolves have also all dropped points and so they have kept their position.
Chelsea Team Preview
Tammy is a doubt and Lampard said he trained but was in a lot of pain. For me Tammy should not be risked we can’t afford to lose him long term and so we should play Giroud. Kepa should start in goal, Azpilicueta will start as left back with probably any two of Zouma, Christensen, and Tomori as our centre backs while Reece starts at right back. I don’t want Rudiger to start and Christensen needs to start and I think Zouma might start. Jorginho, Kovacic, and Kante will probably start in the middle with Hudson-Odoi, and Willian up front behind Giroud hopefully. My heart says Giroud my head says Michy. Hopefully its the first one.
Leicester Team Preview
Vardy has made a recovery and so is in contention to start for the game while everyone else is fit. The same players remain the usual threats with Perez being a deadly signing this season and Barnes, Maddison, etc all contributing. Ndidi is also back and so he should provide balance for the Foxes in midfield. Iheanacho has also provided big problems for teams when on the pitch.
Starting XI Prediction
Earlier in the season we could always say that our away form is really good but even that has been dubious in recent weeks. It’s a pivotal few weeks ahead for Lampard and the team and getting a win at Leicester on a weekend when teams behind us could drop points has to be the result. We have failed to take advantage of similar situations before lets hope we can finally take advantage now. Leicester will be pumped to bounce back from their loss against Villa in the Carabao Cup semi-final hopefully Chelsea rub more salt into on their wound by getting 3 points. COME ON YOU BLUES!!!
