Starting to grow on me.
The Bundesliga was back this weekend for another round of football as Spain decided to resume football by the end of next week and the Premier League look to resume contact training soon. Still no fans the goals were plenty though and the quality was not lacking.
Freiburg 0 vs. 1 Werder Bremen
Bittencourt gave Werder Bremen an early lead in the 18th minute and the away team were able to hold on to the lead while they lost Bargfrede in the 88th minute to a red card. 7th placed Freiburg had no reply but they still remain 7th in the table albeit on goal difference. Werder Bremen remain 17th but now 6 points from safety and will be looking to build on the win in the coming weeks.
Paderborn 1 vs. 1 Hoffenheim
The goals in this game came in the first 10 minutes as Hoffenheim got the lead in the 4th minute thanks to Skov. Paderborn replied back in the 9th minute via Srbeny. Neither team could break the deadlock over the remaining 80 minutes as they shared the points. Paderborn remain bottom of the table 9 points from safety while Hoffenheim remain 9th in the table.
Wolfsburg 0 vs. 2 Dortmund
Guerriero scored in the 32nd minute and Hakimi in the 78th minute as both wing backs managed to get 3 points for the away team. Wolfsburg had Klaus sent off in the 82nd minute as they could not muster any comeback. Wolfsburg remain 6th in the table while Dortmund remain 2nd 4 points behind Bayern.
Monchengladbach 1 vs. 3 Leverkusen
Havertz continued his goalscoring form by giving Leverkusen the lead in the 7th minute but Thuram equalised for Monchengladbach in the 52nd minute. Leverkusen were then given a contentious penalty in the 58th minute which Havertz converted to restore the away sides lead. Bender then scored a brilliant header in the 81st minute to seal the three points for the away team. The loss saw Monchengladbach drop into 5th place while Leverkusen moved into 4th and a Champions League spot.
Bayern Munich 5 vs. 2 Frankfurt
A very interesting game which saw Bayern restore parity with Frankfurt after their abysmal loss to them in 2019. Goretzka gave Bayern the lead in the 17th minute while Muller scored in the 41st minute to double the lead. Lewandowski then made it 3 in the 46th minute as it looked like Bayern would run riot. Hinteregger though scored in the 52nd and 55th minute to make it 3-2 and give Frankfurt some hope. Alphonso Davies made it 4-2 in the 61st minute and Hinteregger completed his hattrick in the 74th minute by scoring an own goal and giving Bayern 3 points with a 5-2 win. Bayern remain top of the table while Frankfurt drop one place into 14th and 5 points above the relegation zone.
Schalke 0 vs. 3 Augsburg
The return of football has not been great for Schalke as they suffered a shock loss at home to Augsburg. Lowen, Bazee, and Cordova all scored to give the away side a solid win. Schalke remain 8th in the table while Augsburg climb up to 12th with the win.
Mainz 0 vs. 5 RB Leipzig
Leipzig returned to winning ways with the thrashing of Mainz as Werner scored a hattrick while Poulsen and Sabitzer added the other two goals. Leipzig have now put 13 goals past Mainz this season over two fixtures as they move into 3rd, 3 points behind Dortmund. Mainz remain just above the relegation zone in 15th with a 3 point lead.
Koln 2 vs. 2 Dusseldorf
Karaman and Thommy gave Dusseldorf a comfortable lead during the game as they looked like they would be heading for 3 points. Koln though mustered a comeback as Modeste scored in the 88th minute and and Cordoba scored in the 91st minute to get a point. Koln move into 10th with the point while Dusseldorf remain 16th 3 points behind Mainz.
