The Bundesliga pushes on this weekend as England, Italy, and Spain are just over 10 days away from beginning to resume football.
Bundesliga MW 30
Freiburg vs. Monchengladbach
Friday night sees 8th placed Freiburg take on 4th placed Monchengladbach as both try to push for places in Europe. Freiburg are 4 points adrift of a Europa League place and need to win otherwise they could drop further away from the top 6 while Monchengladbach are very much now in a race for the Champions League as they sit above Leverkusen on goal difference. Monchengladbach won the reverse fixture 4-2.
Leverkusen vs. Bayern Munich
5th placed Leverkusen take on 1st placed Bayern in an interesting game on Saturday. The two teams have been in good form since the return of football but Bayern have been better than all the rest comfortably winning games. Leverkusen will want to win to keep up their chances of a Champions League place while if Bayern can beat Leverkusen that will be one hand firmly on the title. All eyes on Leverkusen and whether they can make the Bundesliga title race interesting again. Leverkusen won the reverse fixture 1-2.
Leipzig vs. Paderborn
3rd placed Leipzig take on bottom of the table Paderborn in what should be a straight forward 3 points for the home team. Leipzig sit 9 points behind Bayern and while the title might be gone reducing the gap to 6 incase Bayern lose would be a sign of encouragement. Paderborn are 9 points from safety and I feel like they will get relegated no matter what. A special game particularly for Chelsea fans as one Timo Werner will be playing for the home team. Leipzig won the reverse fixture 2-3.
Dusseldorf vs. Hoffenheim
16th placed Dusseldorf take on 7th placed Hoffenheim with both trying to push for something in these latter stages. Dusseldorf are just 1 point from safety while Hoffenheim are only behind 6th placed Wolfsburg on goal difference. This should be an interesting game and a massive boost to the team that gets 3 points. The reverse fixture was a 1-1 draw.
Frankfurt vs. Mainz
11th placed Frankfurt take on 15th placed Mainz in a big game for the away team. Frankfurt have had a lacklustre season but in recent weeks they have pulled themselves away from the relegation zone and now look to be pushing for a top 10 finish. Mainz sit 1 point above the relegation zone and with Dusseldorf and Werder Bremen putting pressure on them the away side cannot afford to drop points. A tight game and an interesting one. Mainz won the reverse fixture 2-1.
Dortmund vs. Hertha Berlin
2nd placed Dortmund take on 9th placed Hertha Berlin in a tough game for both teams. Dortmund are looking to cut their gap to the top to 4 points while Berlin will want to continue their good form and push for a Europa League finish. The two teams have had nervy moments since the return of football but this should be an engaging game. Dortmund won the reverse fixture 1-2.
Werder Bremen vs. Wolfsburg
17th placed Werder Bremen take on 6th placed Wolfsburg in a battle of the green teams. Werder are just 3 points from safety and have been in decent form since football returned while Wolfsburg sit 6th but on only on goal difference as they look to maintain their Europa League place. During these final weeks all teams are capable of pulling off wins or losing and with plenty to fight for this should be an interesting game. Werder Bremen won the reverse fixture 2-3.
Union Berlin vs. Schalke
14th placed Union take on 10th placed Schalke with neither team really fighting for much at the moment. It could all change with a win or loss though as Union only sit 4 points above the relegation zone while Schalke are only 5 points from 6th. Schalke have been dismally poor in recent weeks though and Union will feel they can creep a win. Schalke beat Union 2-1 in the reverse fixture.
Augsburg vs. Koln
13th placed Augsburg take on 12th placed Koln in a nothing fixture with neither team really near any good or dangerous position at the moment. A proper mid table clash. The reverse fixture was a 1-1 draw.
