Arsenal 2 vs. 1 Chelsea FA Cup Final Review

Bummer.

Arsenal won the FA Cup final on Saturday as Aubameyang and referee Anthony Taylor won Arsenal the game. Lampard fielded a fairly strong lineup for the final with Caballero starting in goal, Azpilicueta, Zouma, and Rudiger as the back three, Reece James and Alonso as the wing backs while Kovacic and Jorginho continued in midfield. Pulisic, and Mount either side of Giroud. Mostly all fans were pleased with the lineup, Willian pulled out at the last moment while Kante was fit enough for the bench. Arsenal and Arteta went with their strongest available lineup as well and exactly as predicted.

Chelsea started the game brilliantly as Pulisic gave us the lead in the 5th minute as Mount played the ball into Giroud and Giroud laid if off for Pulisic in the box who dribbled past a couple of players to slot it past Martinez. Great start for Lampard and co. The next 10 minutes were all Chelsea as we could have got a couple more goals but failed to finish off our chances. After 15 minutes the momentum began to shift as Arsenal grew into the game. The intensity from the Chelsea players fell of and Arsenal began to exploit the wings. Arsenal equalised in the 26th minute after Azpilicueta brought down Aubameyang in the box after he ran through past Azpi. Aubemeyang stepped up and slotted a perfect penalty past Caballero. Azpilicueta then pulled hamstring as he tried to catch up to Aubameyang and Niles who ran past him. Sad to see but he had made too many recovery sprints in a very short amount of time. Christensen was brought on for Azpilicueta. Mount was then given a yellow for no reason by Taylor as he gave 9 fouls to none in the first half.

The 2nd half started with Chelsea back in the game to an extent but that all went south within 4 minutes as Pulisic pulled his hamstring after running through on goal past Arsenal’s back line. Captain America managed to pull off a shot while screaming in pain but the damage had been done. Pedro replaced Pulisic for the rest of the game. Arsenal then dominated the game as Aubameyang gave Arsenal the lead in the 67th minute as he dribbled past Zouma to expertly dink the ball over Caballero. Kovacic was then given a red card as he received a 2nd yellow in the 73rd minute for a nothing foul. Rudiger then also got a yellow as Taylor started dishing them out to Chelsea players for fun. A man down Lampard made a triple substitution in the 78th minute as Hudson-Odoi, Tammy, and Barkley came on for Rudiger, Giroud, and Mount as we switched to a back four. Barkley also managed to get a yellow. Pedro also had to come off as he dislocated his shoulder. The final whistle was blown and Arsenal won the cup, and their fans celebrated like they had won the treble, plus the Champions League and World Cup as well.

There is no point of doing a player review as there was no real standout performance or moment. Pulisic looked the most dangerous and it all fell apart after he went off. Lampard laid no blame on the referee and talked about the lack of desire from the Chelsea players. Lampard will also now know who he needs to move on over the next month as he looked to build a younger better squad for the future. Chelsea still have one more game left to play as we got to Munich on Saturday for our Champions League 2nd leg against Bayern. COME ON YOU BLUES!!!
