Quarter’s and Semis.
Champions League Quarter-Finals
Barcelona vs. Bayern Munich
Barcelona comfortably dispatched Napoli in the Round of 16 to reach the quarters while Munich did the same against Chelsea although in better fashion. There is a clear gap between the two teams as Barcelona have struggled and stumbled through seasons now while Munich have been a winning machine since the New Year rolled around. Barcelona are poorly run internally and on the pitch and any win would only paper over the glaring cracks. I think Munich will win this but Barcelona have Messi and until he retires he will always play a factor in any game.
Man City vs. Lyon
Two teams that beat legendary clubs to reach this stage. City beat Real Madrid comfortably over two legs while Lyon got through on away goals against Juventus. City and Pep see this as their best chance to win the Champions League and so Lyon should not play a massive part in that storyline. City are better on paper and on the pitch and so there should only be one real winner regardless of how well Lyon play. The only way Lyon get through is if they play impeccably well and the likes of Depay, and Dembele play their socks off. City should go through.
Europa League Semi-Finals
Sevilla vs. Man United
Sevilla the kings of the Europa League take on United who are searching for their first trophy under Ole. Sevilla beat Roma and dominated Wolves to reach the semis while United beat LASK, and Copenhagen while struggling against both in their last two games. Sevilla are favourites for this game without a doubt and the fact that United played 120 minutes against Copenhagen will impact their fitness for this game. United have no depth and if Sevilla can keep United’s front three quiet then they will win this game. Sevilla are more open then the teams that United faced though. I can see Ole setting up as a 3 at the back and playing on the counter in this game.
