Midweek Football Preview

Carabao Cup time!

Carabao Cup 2nd Round

Newcastle vs. Blackburn

Blackburn beat Doncaster in the 1st round and have since drawn against Leicester in a friendly and lost to Bournemouth in the league. Should be a win for Newcastle.

West Ham vs. Charlton Athletic

Charlton beat Swindon in the first round and are 2nd in the League One as the travel to West Ham. West Ham are struggling but really shouldn’t be losing to a team from the 3rd tier of English football. Charlton have a chance though.

Bournemouth vs. Crystal Palace

Bournemouth are 3rd in the Championship as they take on Palace who are also coming off a win. Last season this would have been a Premier League clash and so it should be an evenly contested game.

Burton vs. Aston Villa

Burton beat Accrington on penalties to reach this round as they sit 17th in League One. This is Villa’s first game of the season and they have brought in quality. Expect a win for the Villains.

West Brom vs. Harrogate

Harrogate beat Tranmere on penalties in the last round and they sit top of League Two. West Brom should win this comfortably but one should always be wary of smaller teams.

Ipswich vs. Fulham

Ipswich beat Bristol in the last round as they sit 5th in League One. Fulham had a poor start to the season and this could be a tricky fixture for the Premier League team.

Southampton vs. Brentford

Southampton lost at the weekend as they take on Brentford who beat Wycombe on penalties in the last round and sit 16th in the Championship. Two good teams that started their seasons with losses, both looking to bounce back.

Leeds vs. Hull City

Hull beat Sunderland on penalties in the last round as they sit 3rd in League One. Leeds did really well against Liverpool and should have no problem against Hull.

Everton vs. Salford

Salford beat Rotherham in the last round on penalties and sit 9th in League Two. Simple win for Everton expected.

Burnley vs. Sheffield United

An all Premier League clash as Burnley play their first game of the season while Sheffield look to bounce back from their loss at the weekend. Should be a boring game which either team can win.

Wolverhampton vs. Stoke

Stoke beat Blackpool on penalties and sit 12th in the Championship as they take on Wolves who won at the weekend. Simple win expected for Nuno and team.

Brighton vs. Portsmouth

Portsmouth beat Stevenage on penalties in the last round and sit 15th in League One as they take on Brighton who lost at the weekend but performed well against Chelsea. Should be a win for the Seagulls.

Ligue MW 1 (Remaining games)

10th placed Lyon take on 13th placed Montpellier, 18th placed PSG seek their first win against 17th placed Metz, and 5th placed Marseille take on 4th placed St.Etienne. Just playing catch up.
