Weekend Football Review

This season is absolutely insane!!

Premier League MW 4

Everton 4 vs. 2 Brighton

Calvert-Lewin once again opened the scoring for Everton as he scored in the 16th minute. Maupay equalised in the 41st minute for Brighton but Mina restored the lead right before half time. Rodriguez then got 2 goals in the 2nd half as Bissouma got a consolation goal in extra time. Everton make 4/4 as they go 3 clear at the top of the table with a brilliant start to the season. Brighton drop down to 15th with 3 losses in 4.

Leeds 1 vs. 1 Man City

It was student vs master as Pep took on Bielsa on a rainy Saturday and what a game it was. Man City took the lead in the 17th minute through Sterling but it was an end to end game as Leeds grew into the 1st half. The 2nd half could have seen Leeds score 3 or 4 if not for Ederson but they managed to equalise through Rodrigo who came off the bench and scored in the 59th minute. Leeds drop down to 8th while City drop into 14th.

Newcastle 3 vs. 1 Burnley

Saint-Maximin scored in the 14th minute to give Newcastle the lead and it stayed that way until the 60th minute. Westwood equalised for Burnley in the 61st minute but Wilson restored the lead in the 65th minute and made it 3 in the 77th minute from the penalty spot. Newcastle move one place into 9th while Burnley remain 18th with 3 defeats in 3.

Leicester 0 vs. 3 West Ham

Football can come at you fast and after Leicester’s great win last weekend they came crashing down against West Ham. Antonio, Fornals, and Bowen scored the 3 goals as West Ham continued their good return to form and dealt Leicester their first defeat this season. Leicester drop down to 3rd while West Ham move into 10th as it looks like Moyes might be the issue.

Southampton 2 vs. 0 West Brom

Djenepo scored in the 41st minute and Romeu scored in the 69th minute as Southampton got a good win against West Brom to make it 2 wins in the last two games. Southampton climb up to 11th while West Brom remain 17th with the point.

Arsenal 2 vs. 1 Sheffield United

It was two defensive teams against one another and for 60 minutes there was no difference between the two. Pepe was then brought on and he changed the game for Arsenal as Saka scored in the 61st minute. Pepe himself then scored in the 64th minute to make it 2-0 in quick succession. McGoldrick got one back in the 84th minute but Sheffield United still lost. Arsenal move one place into 4th while Sheffield United remain 19th but have finally scored a goal.

Wolverhampton 1 vs. 0 Fulham

Neto scored in the 56th minute as Wolves managed to get 3 points in a tight game against Fulham. Wolves move up to 13th while Fulham remain bottom of the table.

Man United 1 vs. 6 Tottenham

Insane result no.1 as United got thrashed at home by Tottenham and Jose. Fernandes scored in the 2nd minute after Martial was brought down and he converted his customary penalty per game. It seemed like that was a great start for Ole but Tottenham raised their level and they got back in the 4th minute after Maguire went mad and started tackling his own players and Ndombele equalised. Son then made it 2 for Spurs in the 7th minute after a quick free kick from Kane. Martial was then sent off in the 29th minute thanks to some dark arts from Lamela and Kane made it 3 a minute later. Son made it 4 in the 37th minute and and Spurs went into half time with a 1-4 lead. Aurier and Kane added goals in the 2nd half to round out the win for Spurs as Mourinho went to pat Ole’s head and celebrated his 3 points. Tough times for United and Ole as they drop down to 16th while Spurs move up to 6th on goal difference.

Aston Villa 7 vs. 2 Liverpool

The biggest shock of the weekend came on Sunday night as Villa thrashed champions Liverpool 7-2 in a big win for Dean Smith and his team. Watkins scored in the 4th minute after a mistake from Adrian which Grealish latched on to. Watkins made it 2 in the 22nd minute but Salah got one back for Liverpool in the 33rd minute. McGinn made it 3 for Villa in the 35th minute and Watkins completed his hattrick in the 39th minute. Villa 4-1 up at half time and Liverpool looked like they had been slapped in the face. Barkley made it 5 for Villa in the 55th minute while Salah got one back for Liverpool in the 60th minute. Villa though said they werent done and Grealish added 2 to make it 7 and seal the win. Big big win for Villa as they move up to 2nd with 3/3 with a game in hand while Liverpool drop down to 5th having already lost a game.
